  1. Let me clarify, for the record. Nick was suspended for three (3) days, not banned. Also, FYI, the only staff member on DCP that "hands out" suspension, is the Community Administator, and currently that is me. Lastly, it's a simple process.....I'm made aware of possible infractions, I then research it, and make my ruling based solely on what is wrritten within the CG's. Anyway you color it, a personal attack is a suspendable violation. As i've stated before...........the Community Guidelines govern the community, we (staff) just enforce when needed.
  2. The excitement of performing on Finals night is unmatched. Kudos to ALL the corps that have dedicated themselves to thousands of hours of rehearsal, bus rides, gym floors, and McDonalds to strive for that final performance of the season. :)
  3. Being childhood friends with Scott since the age of 13, naw.......it doesn't surprise me at all. :P
  4. Welcome to DCP. Enjoy your stay. :)
  5. No, not really. For instance, in most cases, the judging panel will leave room for the last corp(s) performing. If the best score given out prior is 9.9, then there is room for a 10.0, or lower.
  6. "Thorn" maybe to harsh, but it has been cumbersome on their overall percussion placement in recent years.
  7. Quite simply, the entire "theme", design, and all other aspects flows nicely, in fact....IMO, flawlessly. Not once during the show did I ever "checkout", and then stumble back into it. Anytime you can capture an audience in this fashion, "brilliant" come to mind easily.
  8. Good points, but I'll say this. Corps taking the chance of that happening is the same as taking chances on show design.......it either succeeds, or fails.
  9. Can you expand on why you feel that way, regarding wireless?
  10. I've been impressed with PR's drum line since Paul Rennick took the reigns.
  11. BTW..........the girls in Canada were very cool, and friendly. :)
  12. For me, in my 9 years of DC, I saw the USA and alot of Canada, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. It's cool when my kids ask if I have seen [insert city - state), and I can answer yes.
  13. Well, as I stated in another thread, I described the design of the Dev's show as "brilliant", which I have only done a handful of times regarding anyone's show. :)
  14. Ok, so anyone who has seen the other top drum lines, feel free to comment. :P
  15. Percussion section. Yes, they still employ one of the finest battery sections in DC, but this year, they have a front ensemble to match it, which could equate to a percussion trophy in Madison. The battery is SO clean and crisp, that errors are easy to point out, (keep in mind that I'm able to stand 3 or 4 feet from the line, given my alumni status, and being childhood friends of ScoJo, doesn't hurt either :P ) which is more good than bad. There just isn't ANY grey area. Without boring anyone, I let you be the judge on this. It has been said in the past that the "pit" has been the thorn in the Dev's percussion side, but IMO, that notion will be erased this season. Props to Jim Wunderlich.
  16. Agreed, they must first be hosted on the net before you can link them. Photobucket is a good choice for that.
  17. Although I can appreciate your sentiment in that statement, it could change once you've seen the "blue" corps from the west. For this drum corps fan, I can think of a handful of times I've uttered the word "brilliant" when describing a corps, ESPECIALLY this early in the season, but after experiencing the Dev's for the past three (3) days, the word flowed from my mouth. That said, it's going to be one #### of a year for DC. :)
  18. To answer a question from earlier in this thread............. No, the thread has not broken any DCP Guidelines, as long as the discussion stays civil, and informational,it doesn't stand a chance of being closed. For the record, threads aren't closed due to "going against the grain", they're closed when they violate the community guidelines, which this one hasn't. Good discussion we have here.
  19. Please keep any one-on-one, personal discussions private, please. Let's keep this on-topic. Thanks.
  20. Let's all keep in mind, we were all "new members" at one time. That said, my entrance to DCP raised a few eyebrows also, but I learned from it. :)
