  1. Thank you both. Was on my laptop. Found it on my iPad. Great.
  2. How do I find it? I'm not versed in Periscope. I searched his name and nothing came up.
  3. I'll see them tomorrow night, but my first impression is that huge prop is going to be very distracting.
  4. Well, I've seen plenty of posts where people were saying Boston top 3 and so on and so forth. They got 4th last night, but were BD and SCV there they would have certainly placed 6th - exactly where they left off last year. If Cadets were there, it's possible they could have placed 7th. So, yes, I think BAC was overhyped and not just by a few posters.
  5. I see your point. Personally, I think BAC is the one they could take out. The hype for them last year was real - this year it was grossly over-exaggerated.
  6. Exactly. Let's hope it doesn't take four consecutive 2nds to win for them this time.
  7. I honestly don't like BD's show AT ALL this year, and I'm so tempted to proclaim "Mark my words, BD is going to finish 4th at finals" but that just doesn't happen. I now it WILL happen someday, but I've been burned too many times thinking BD wasn't going to win. The last time they were out of the top 2 was 2006. That. Is. Crazy. I think BD and SCV have the best staffs top to bottom, and I felt their designs last year were on a whole different level than anyone beneath them. I would honestly love for BD to be 4th, but I think they will be 1-2 again.
  8. I don't think we have to worry about BD and SCV bringing it. I feel Bluecoats might peak too early like last year. Crown was a lot dirtier and the score was so close. Personally, I don't think BD or SCV have anything to worry about, although I don't care for BD's show this year - they will most likely be 1-2 at the end of the season.
  9. I agree on all fronts. I think they will pass up Phantom soon. They seemed a lot dirty than Phantom and their show is more complex, better designed, and more interesting. I think Regiment's show is a step up from last year, but in comparision with everyone else last night, they seem so left behind.
  10. That is it. Yes. I forgot Cavies played it in 1994.
  11. I figured it out. Crown, 2009. That's where I've heard that number before!
  12. Fair play. I've seen video of everyone that made the top 12 last year, except Madison and Santa Clara. I think you will be happy with the 2018 Cadets. That's what's most important. 3rd, 7th or 10th (which would be a gartanguan shock IMO) they are definitely headed in the right direction.
  13. I have friends in high places :) There is honestly nothing more I would love than if they bounced in an won tomorrow night. I will do cartwheels. I always love when the unexpected happens and there's a shock in placement - it's so rare. I just think it's really hard to move up - look at Boston last night. Started exactly where they left off last year, even with all the right pieces in place. What I can't figure out for the life of me is where I have heard part of their show before. The part that starts with the chanting. Around 1:40/1:50 seconds in to 4:50. I know another corps has played it, but it's driving me nuts. I want to say SCV played it at some point...but I'm losing my mind. I can't figure it out. I think their whole visual program is a big huge massive step up from last year. It's challenging, intricate, it has nice flow to it, and the guard has a great presence. The staging is good. I feel night and day different about my recent viewing than a couple weeks ago. Still, top 5 will be a big challenge, but who knows. 7th at absolute worst.
  14. Can't wait to see how they fare tomorrow. IMO they are a hell of a lot better than last year. I still think cracking that top 5/6 will be tough, but I am very happy with what I've seen. The one thing I think they did really well last year, and are continuing to do well this year, are the vocals. Usually I don't like vocals, but the Cadets do it in a way where it enhances the production rather than distracts from it. Going to be an interesting season for them.
  15. Since 2015 - they finished 8th (Regiment was 7th).
  16. Perhaps. But a hell of a lot more people liked it at finals than this time during the season.
  17. Not me. I complain about the design if I see the following: + Beating us over the head with the design. + Poor drill. + Poor guard staging. + Not enough brass playing. + Poor drill. + Demand for the sake of demand - and this is all over the place in today's DCI. Difficult runs for the sake of difficult runs, and a lack of melodic lines and building. It's just park and run, march, park and run, march, pack and run, march ... rinse and repeat. I freaking loved 2016 Blue Stars show so much. It was magnificent because it had so many great things happening, but I sure as hell wasn't going to read a novel on their website to understand what the show is about. BD last year, I got the references to their history, but the fan who hasn't been following the activity for 30+ years wouldn't. I felt the Cadets clubbed us over the head with their themes in 2015, 2016 and 2017 - overkill. I think 2017 Regiment didn't even have a theme. It was like, "let's play this, lets march that, and we'll call it Phantasm." I just think it's gotten way out of hand. I mean it's a 10 1/2 minute show. I just enjoy them for what they are.
  18. I think the themes have gotten out of control. I'm just not going to read an essay on anyone's show. I just want great playing, great spinning, and great drill - that's it. Frankly, I really don't need to know what anyone's show is about to enjoy it. I don't think one should have to study to enjoy a drum corps show. Throwing shade a Blue Stars here, but I just thought their novel on their 2016 show was absurd. It was really a fantastic show, but I was like, "Nope, not reading this." I didn't enjoy it any less.
  19. I think this year's show is very much like the 2015 show. I didn't think that about 2017 at all. Will be interesting to see the direction this show goes.
  20. 2018 Crown is like 2015 Crown. No one will like it now, but by finals everyone will love it.
  21. I have. Granted it was video. I think it's an ok show (at least right now). It will get better and beefier like everyone's will. I like it better than the last two years. It's a good move in the right direction, but I don't think from a design standpoint it's in the same league as Cavies, Bluecoats and Crown (I'm not crazy about BD's show this year, but it will get exceptionally better by end of season, their execution will keep them ahead of Cadets, and several others), and all indications point to SCV being as good or better than last year. I also think expecting the Cadets to execute as well, or better, than last year's top 5 is a lot to ask. The Cadets simply don't draw in the top talent anymore - the top 6 from last year do. You have to observe trends. What BAC did last year is a huge anomaly. It happened because of their staff acquisitions. They brought in a top team that top talent wanted to work with, and they had an exceptional show design (which in itself his HUGE). That top team and show design helped them to exceed expectations. That doesn't happen every year. It is hard as hell, normally, to move up. From a design and execution standpoint, for the Cadets, 2015 to 2016 was a gargantuan drop. 2017 was a further drop from 2016 - perhaps not in design (although it wasn't a very good one) but definitely in execution. The Cadets have been on a downward trend, the aren't drawing the talent they used to, and they had a huge scandal and shake up this year. That, to me, does not bode well for them breaking into the top 5 this year. I think they are better off now then they were in the recent past, and their future is bright. I think they will be better this year, but breaking into that top 5 is going to prove nearly impossible for anyone who wasn't there last year. I think probably 6th is the best they can hope for, and that's not bad. A step in the right direction definitely. Even if they placed 10th (which I don't think they will) I still would think they are headed in the right direction and have a bright future. You can see by tonight, that it looks like BAC started off this year right where they left off last year - in 6th. So, very hard to move up even if you have all the right pieces in place.
  22. I think the judges would agree with you on that for now. I do think the top 5 is in a league of their own, and I think it's going to be virtually impossible for anyone else to break into that group this year.
  23. I wouldn't say I'm a crazy Cadet fan. I love them, but SCV, Madison and Crown are my favorites. Cadets would probably be my 4th favorite. That being said, I think it's Crown, Bluecoats, Cavaliers, and perhaps Boston that don't need to worry about the Cadets. They were 7th last year after all, they have been on a downward trend, they had a huge shake up this year. I hope they the rival the top 6, but they certainly aren't going to rival SCV and BD, and probably won't beat anyone else in the top 5 from last year either. Probably a rebuilding year for them. Probably 6th at best. Please note - I said probably many times.
  24. Blue Stars have my favorite show I've seen thus far. I think, from what I've seen of Regiment so far, the two are pretty even.
