  1. Best of luck to all competing corps, lots of fun for all the exhibition corps, and a riotous blast for all the alumni corps. As my business is finally getting it's "feet", I have taken a few jobs to cook over the next several weekends. Unfortunately, that means I cannot attend the Grand Prix. I haven't missed a Grand Prix since 1995. (my first, climbing to the top of the stadium to sneak a peek at the machine that is the Caballeros). Have a great time. I'm sad that I can't see my husband perform at our beloved home show. Watch as he takes his steps into Caballero history when he conducts his first Grand Prix and conduct Cha Cha with the combined corps' and a legacy of drum majors that came before him. Someone please take lots of pictures and video. (Liz, I know you're really good at that!) Safe travels to all and: CABALLERO PRIDE!!!!!!
  2. I would imagine the Caballeros have the show stadium. I could be wrong though.
  3.   The DCA God's gave us the showers at Waterbury so that we would truly appreciate all the other God forsaken venues. Best showers for me: Bridgeport (privacy) Clifton (some privacy, and lots of stalls) Reading (although it gets hot up there in the locker room) West Haven
  4. :worthy: :worthy: I see working for the mouse has given you quite the sense of humor. I love it!! Sign me up, I want to play mellophone and spin a sabre at the same time.
  5. Yes, we missed an undefeated season by .3 tenths. But the win in West Haven may have been finals to Caballeros that year. We had finally beat the giant, but not without a lot of hard work on our part and great competition from the Brigadiers. I cried harder in West Haven at our win then when my medal was placed around my neck at Finals. Both glorious wins, but anyone that was part of the 2003 Caballeros knows what I speak of and how it felt.
  6. Amen sir. We are only onto week 3. There is a long road ahead of all the corps competing this season.
  7. I was in no way condemning you or anyone else for their opinion> as I've already seen that my own opinion is actually worthless. See ya'll in Bridgeport. Thanks Jeff.
  8. From a member viewpoint that is taking a season off, and seeing the guard uniforms for the first time Saturday night: I LOVED THEM. I'm no expert, but I see those uniforms as "painting a modern, avant garde picture of Spain". It is after all, a Spanish Fantasy. Try to suspend your conventional way of thinking and look into another frequency of thought if you will. You don't have to like these uniforms, but you do have to respect the fact that Caballeros color guard will be a contender all season long. CABALLERO PRIDE!
  9. Leaving in less than an hour. Waiting for Glenn to get home from work. Bless my WONDERFUL parents for pooch sitting the ENTIRE weekend! See ya'll at Kelly's tonight!!!
  10. Oh it's so close now, I can taste that first drink at Kelly's -- my beloved corps tertiary home! I can't wait to see everyone and see all the corps for the first time (even my beloved Caballeros, Competing and Alumni). GET IT CABS! I miss you all and can't wait to see your "swagger" as you OWN the field in your first outing. CABALLERO PRIDE!
  11. As a marching member in my mellophone line: 62 He retired in 2007 and was moved to Assistant Drum Major and has since fully retired from field duty. He is also the Corps Historian.
  12. I <3 Guy. Je vous manque mon ami. I asked this question because I'm really scared for the activity and the American middle class in general. You can ask him yourself come DCA's. You won't miss him. I guarantee it. And he'll shake your hand and have a beer over it.
  13. Can this activity survive with the cost of living today?
  14. My husband is "marching" this season. I'm taking the season off. It's 63.7 miles to Hawthorne one way. (We live in Monmouth County) Plus Hudson, Wildwood, Bridgeport, etc, and other venues the corps does not supply buses. We keep a travel log for him and he logs all his corps miles over the weekend and expenses. Tax season will be nice. He drives a Chevy Cobalt and it cost over $45 to fill it right now. I drive a TrailBlazer. Let's just say I drive as little as possible. See ya'll in Wildwood with Moonshine in my tank.
  15. Good luck everyone! GET IT CABS!! CABALLERO PRIDE!!!!!!!!
  16. Get it Cabs. Have a great weekend in Hudson and even though I'm not out there this year with all of you, I'm there in spirit. As we approach our season opener in Wildwood: May your feet be swift, Your horns be loud, Your drums be tight, Your flags be tossed high, and most importantly, CABALLERO PRIDE! See ya'll in Wildwood. I'll be the one without the tan.
  17. Hawthorne Caballeros 2003-2007 / lead mellophone Sunrisers 1994-1998, 2002 / soprano 94-95, lead mellophone 96-98, 02 Crossmen 1996 / lead mellophone (Did not finish the season due to a knee injury)
  18. And great friends and Caballero memories to pass on to a new generation. I can't wait for this night to come.
  19. As I recall, you can never over pour a tasty, foamy beverage at the Post. Remember: The larger the lager, the happier Mr Louie Stork is!!
