I always wonder how 27th would have been scored had guard counted for something outside of it's participation in the overall General Effect caption.

IMO, I don't think it was the concert piece that was the issue with SCV. I think it was a year spent on trying to adapt to what they had produced vs. the captions. From a GE effect they were quite something, yet execution was not as expected. There were significant issues with many captions. Yet, the show is recognized for what it produced....a significant change in what was expected.

Another show which I have always liked. I think the music is just so good.

BD also met up with Top Secret the last time they were at the Basel Tattoo.

BD International is invited back to the Basel Tattoo which is a very big gathering. They went there back in 2015.

When I went to Zurich almost 30 years ago, a Toblerone that size was $10. A regular coffee was $5. A Big Mac was $10 (just the sandwich itself).

Switzerland is the land of Toblerone. I believe ingesting large quantities of Toblerone makes one less susceptible to getting infected with Covid because no one with Toblerone wants to be around other people (potentially with Covid) who may want you to share your Toblerone. It's best to have the Toblerone all to yourself.

It was a thing with music on it that you played over and over and over until it garbled up the tape player in your father's car. At least it didn't change tracks in the middle of a song like an 8-track. Did DCI ever offer 8-track recordings in the '70s?

TBH, there is nothing "international" about DCI that is going to happen for the next while. I sincerely hope that at some point other countries participate.

The soloist is a spectacular player - he knew how to make that horn sing.

It's not just the difference in horn sound. Recordings prior to Lucas Oil had a lot more audible audience reaction.

They need to create a show and to reduce the amount of time it takes to create that show. Every single dollar spent right now is more accountable than before. This is about survival facing incredible odds. They now have a brass arranger who wrote the show in question. His track record speaks for itself. He knows exactly what was put into those arrangements and can tweak them for 2021. I would be content even if they were the same. The brass arranger is now with a very accomplished group of caption heads/instructors. 2020 was supposed to be Phantom's rebirth year. Let 2021 be the year they continue that trajectory.

I watched for it and laughed.

Tbh, the announcement made me tear up. So much emotion has been spent on what we have not been able to experience. Phantom bringing back a show that so many loved made me think they understood where people's mind's and heart's would be when they perform. I think their new management knows exactly what they are doing. I would like to feel again, to have hope. That music hits it on so many fronts.

A show that had no theme or story line - it hit you over the head with amazing music. I'm looking forward to that again.
