  1. Bridgemen Sky Ryders Florida Wave Suncoast Sound Kilties Because they were all very unique
  2. Ok i have to ask . Based on the sheet and field sampling at the show last night , Where would you have them and why ? Not based on what you heard online or in the stands . but the actual judges sheet for field brass.
  3. Judges have seen the show many many times . if you want to see what happens at the end. Take 3 panels let them judge in June and then not again until Championships week . The panels the last 2 nights are very good judges and people but they are not seeing the shows with fresh eyes and ears. This could be very scary for some but it is usually what happens at other championships. WGI we are lucky if we have seen 2 of the 5 during the season. BOA and other band shows you are lucky if you have seen a couple of judges once before Nationals. I am not saying things would turn upside down but you would get fresh reads and reactions. At least do it with the Effect judges for the week . Just a thought.
  4. 2001 a show before nationals --87.2 Finals 1995 -86.3 9th --still highest finish ever.
  5. the following are from my review after atlanta SCV-I do love this show !!!!! Guard uniforms work well and the guard is creative and effective.Great drill and some very clever effects . Crown --Best response of the night . This concept works and works well. The guard is wonderful!! The horn line covers a vast array of style and color. The drum line is getting stronger. But most important to me is They made me clap and stand !!!! I have not checked the recaps but the show felt like it should have placed in the top 4 or 5 in Effect . Bluecoats-- I do like the show alot . however, it felt flat to me tonight . Could just be me . But they lost me in the middle of the show and got me back some at the end. I cant really explain what or why so i am sticking with flat .May not be a matter of if they can catch the 4 in front but if they can hold off the 2 behind them. Phantom--Loved the guard !!! The horn line seemed on to me tonight and i felt that this corps and show could make a run to the end
  6. talking , music, talking, drill, talking winged victory with earlier finish stop , drop and roll , flex and roll In a photo finish ,quarterhorse criminally insane horns, guard , drums ! ! ! ! ! dark, darker, darkest , painting self in corner for every season turn turn where are tramps and thieves? Navy Blue and ivory flip
  7. Anyone know when DCI actually moves the office to Indy . I believe that was part of the indy deal . Office space ??
  8. Predictions for night BD Cadets Cavies Phantom Crown Bluecoats SCV Boston Blue Knights Colts Academy Glassmen
  9. I didnt see that at all !! WOW must have been a lot better Live !!!!!
  10. Bluecoats Fall to 7 barely. i am guessing a point or less between coats,SCV and crown. 8.9 .10 -stay the same Academy in ...Spirit out Spirit stays 13 Not a lot will change based on what we have seen during the week .IMHO
  11. The 2 up are on the field and sampling sections and individuals. The other is upstairs concerned with the music ensemble as a whole. Does not seem odd to me . Different reads from different places.
  12. Thanks Dave !! would have been nice to see you also . As to doing a tour again sometime ...... I liked sleeping in my nice hotel and having dinner out and breakfast with my friend then hanging at th show .. ALOT !!! Not sure i see a tour in my future , But thanks . Jeff
  13. unless there has been a change in the scale.. 1-8 9-17 18 -down all paid the same scale.based on these brackets. So being 13 is not a kiss of death.
  14. Day Show General overview Great seats and great to see old friends from the activity. A beautiful hotel and a wonderful week end for a get away to Atlanta !! Good Troopers back on the field !! The capes in Crossmen show introduction !! Madison's entrance !! Glassmens guard costumes !! Bostons Percussion and overall Energy !! Colts look !! The bad Best part of some shows done before judging starts . Guard costumes that make me under why ?? The Ugly Drill that students do not have the strength to achieve. Starts and stops. Uniformity of technique. Night Show Spirit -- Moving more than they have but not always sure why and where the show is going . Evrrything is ok but nothing stuck out to me as over the top. I would like to see them develope one or 2 moments they are more than safe.Hide and seek could be that place on the high and low end. A good drum corps but not convinced they will hold on to make finals in the end. Glassmen--Guard gets it but could the rest of the corps buy into as well ?? They march well. They play well. But for me didnt take any moments and wow me with the theme or identity. Felt more like a cat toying with ball of string . Colts--The corps proper uniforms are more mature than ever in the history of the corps. IMHO.Brass and music ensemble are an issue at times. But the show works.Well coordinated effects . Seems to be more reasons and resolves to what they present .Basily i like them, Blue Knights-- I apologize but i missed you tonight . Boston-- Way stronger in the evening than in day show. Music ensemble was on tonight !! Designers choice but i felt there are 3 places in the show where the guard could match the intensity of the music better and the audience would have exploded for them. SCV-I do love this show !!!!! The horn line seemed on to me tonight and i felt that this corps and show could make a run to the end. Cavies--All i can say is " Visual eye candy " !!! It is very entertaining and works way better for me live than on streaming video. Cadets--WOW !!! what a drill !! what a hornline !! what a percusssion section !!!-- that said. I am not negative about voice overs or narration. But i did feel that the rehearsal section goes on too long with too much dialogue. But is clear to me why they are in the hunt to win. They are that good !!!!!!!! Blue Devils--Called it and i was lucky and right . I felt they won the show tonight . I think the drum lines must use a GPS systm to do the drill they are simply everywhere on the field . Extremely clever percussion staging and effects. They march like no ones business and i felt like it was one of the most effective BD guards maybe ever !! All the above said it was my opinion on one night in Atlanta . And what a great night it was . The top 7 , as has beens stated all year, are that GOOD !!!!!. There is not one finalist i didnt like in some way .I left the night happy and feeling very good about drum corps and the state of the activity. God Bless every member and helper and staff person on the road . I know the grind and you can see it in the faces . Collectively it was a great show and all should be proud of what they are doing !! The run to the end is going to be close and very interesting to watch . What else can you ask for ??
  15. I had a problem and lost BD but he online tech support hooked me !! woooo hooooooo
  16. Nick youtube has a couple of 88 videos from the early Miami show that arent great veiws but sound is good . all is there except the closer from 88. I was actually surprised we were ok that early lol. Just search Florida wave
  17. now this thread is up my alley wooooo hooooooo
  18. You have a valid point and it is discussed at DCI meetings and has been for years. " People are paying full ticket prices they deserve full shows " I do not have as big an issue with practice flags as i do uniforms/costumes. Many that used practice flags have the show flags just dont use them this early . I think if the practice flags match the mood of the piece that is ok . However try to understand that the guard is the last piece of the puzzle in putting the show on the field. 1-many march indoor and arent at camps til april . 2-getting costumes can be delayed waiting sizing. 3-Getting them and fitting them takes longer once on the road. 4-Most corps have more help on the road for sewing and the like later not early . But I know everyone would love to have them ready to go it sometimes is just not possible.
  19. I certainly am not saying it is horrible to stay as it is . My argument is with those you say it will kill the summer touring groups. Personally i prefer bugles over Bb for volume, but the qaulity is way better with Bb. However , with every little change that has been made the sound and look has changed. In that process we have lost some fans and gained new ones. I think before we see woodwinds we will see limits placed on the use of the woodwind voice.By that i mean amplified woodwind voices to allow for the color to be used but at a minimal amount of new bodies.
