  1. I talked with a few friends and they said they had a great camp and the corps is going to be very strong - once again. So for now relax on the show announcement, it's coming! They'll let us know when it's time. :)
  2. Wow, SOMEBODY didn't like us last night. Dropped our Visual Performance score almost an entire point! But props to El Gigante for catchin us. Bring it on for tonight though.
  3. Yeah, we'll leave the smack talk alone, let our show do the work - especially out West (Blue Angels).
  4. Oops, forget the accent on the e for Mystre. Haha, we'll make sure the one's that hit the other corps are BIGGER. *who you lookin at?*
  5. 2ND and High GE! Wow, wasn't expecting that. But we're very happy with it. That'll show the doubters, White Stars CAN run with the big dogs. = very happy corps director tonight Thanks to DCPI staff for gettin these up quickly! I really like the layout, very easy to use.
  6. Hey Blue Angels will trade you Jolly Ranchers for Tootsie Rolls....or whatever else we've got.
  7. After talking for many long hours with my good friend Matt Smith I will graciously accept this post and do my best to serve the members of FANFARE and DCPI as a whole. I am honored to head up such a wonderful organization and am looking forward to working with every single one of the directors in our fine organization. Being a member of FANFARE has helped my corps get their feet off the ground and be a successful competing member of DCPI. That being said, I would like to ask all members of FANFARE to please PM me with their latest information and any ideas they have for the group. I have some ideas working in my head but I would like to hear from all of you with some concepts for how we can make the group and DCPI as a whole stronger and better. We have been a little quiet lately and I feel the need to get back in touch with everyone. With your help we can continue the strong showings and prestige that the FANFARE organization has been able to create to date. Thank you very much for everyone's well wishes and good luck to all competing members of DCPI. Let's get this ball rollin'!
  8. Yeah about that, FANFARE kinda showed you guys last time you tried smack-talking us. 7 out of 12 in finals Season 5? What? Oh, and I have Tri-Color in for "Surprise Corps of the Season". Just you guys watch.
  9. Ouch, Tri-Color in 13th? Matt just might shoot himself....
  10. from Denver, CO: I just returned from Boise, ID where I got a chance to watch two wonderful corps from the Intermountain Youth Music Association - the Bleu Knights and Blue Angels practice and perform at the wonderful facilities of Boise State University. Getting a chance to perform on the one-of-a-kind blue turf of Boise State was really a treat and got us all excited here at IYMA for tour and our show here in a few weeks. I'd like to take the chance to thank the men and women who hosted us for the weekend here in Boise. I have to say, we had some of the most gracious and kind hosts you could ask for. They really showed their school, city, and state proud. Beyond that, we had absolutely beautiful weather this weekend. We're very happy with our choice to keep Bleu Knights in Boise and looking forward to continuing and strengthening our relationship with the city and university. Bleu Knights really impressed me tonight. They have been working really hard here and are now able to really show their wares for all the IYMA brethren. They sounded great! For a Division 2 corps, we were blown away with the sound they put together. Such power! Such energy! I am very excited to see how they do this season. Once again they are coming out of the gates strong. Blue Angels performed second and they once again look like they have what it takes to go the distance. "Aegis", even this early, can bring tears to your eyes, but bring you to your feet begging for more the next minute. We have some work to do yet, but give them a few days and I'm sure they'll come out "guns blazing". IYMA is absolutely ready for the season to begin. Our other corps, White Stars, are in Virginia at the moment preparing for their show in Salem. We had Alumni and support members here to provide the kids performing today with water and gatorade throughout the day. After our performances, families from all the corps put together a wonderful barbecque and ice cream bar for all participants. A great time was had by all and new ties were made between Blue Angels and Bleu Knights. We hope to make this an annual event. I spoke afterwards with the staffs of both corps and got a feel for how each corps were feeling about the beginning of the season and their progress. I have a feeling this is going to be a great year for both corps. In fact, all corps in the IYMA family. I made sure of some final preparations for my departure to Denver, CO. Both corps will be leaving tomorrow for Flagstaff, AZ in preparation for the opening day of DCPI. Good job to both corps tonight and everyone who had a part in putting this on the field tonight. Good luck this year to everyone!
  11. Blue Angels and Bleu Knights will be glad to see y'all! Welcome to the better side of the Rockies. ;)
  12. White Stars would like to thank Matt Smith, the host of this event, for all the help and hospitality he showed to us during our early visit to Atlanta. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will use this as a learning experience for our kids. Competitively we didn't so quite as well as we had hoped coming in, but as a whole we are pleased with our showing here tonight. Thanks to everyone participating for such an awesome couple of days in Atlanta and good luck this year! We'll now be taking a day off in downtown Atlanta and then be heading on our way to Virginia for two more weeks to prepare our show and do a few exhibitions. We are planning a free day sometime between now and the first show in Baltimore, and Washington DC (but don't tell the kids that!). So we'll see you January 12th in Salem!
  13. nice goin brigade and actually, it ain't bad there man. well, it's better than the crap we had to play this year in the real world...i meaaaannnnn... and matt is a pretty darn good arranger btw. i'd give him my music any day!
  14. The Intermountain Youth Music Association is gearing up for this season, and we're excited to get going! We have some exciting things planned for the tour this year and are proud of what our corps have accomplished thus far. Some reports from around the group: -------------------------------------------------- White Stars Corps Hall Denver, CO: The corps has been working very diligently on getting our show onto the field. After taking the summer off while the directors took care of personal business, the corps gained strength and was meeting regularly to practice skills. "We feel the time off for the corps during Season 6 was just what we needed," said one returning veteran in the drumline. This season the White Stars are presenting music by Karl Jenkins. The show is entitled "Adiemus" and has presented a new challenge to our team which we are working on every day. It's a little bit of a new style for us, but we can see the flair of brilliance popping through early on. After finishing in 7th last year, we gained a lot of new very talented rookies and they are quickly catching onto the game. In preperation for our Southern tour, we are trying a new method of acclimization to the warm, humid climate of the Sun Belt. The White Stars are very excited to finally get on the road, and will be leaving on Thursday for Tennessee where the corps will house at the University of Tennessee-Martin, and put the finishing touches to the program before our debut in Sevierville. See you there! -------------------------------------------------- Blue Angels Practice Facility US Air Force Academy Colorado Springs, CO Reporting from Colorado Springs, where the Blue Angels are putting final touches into their show "Big, Phat, Drum Corps (the music of Gordon Goodwin and his Big Phat Band)". We just did our first full runthrough last night and the corps looks really good. "Where the corps came from in the last year has really given me a good feeling about this year. The talent level is exponentially higher and the overall precision is just astounding. This is a brand new corps" - Bill McQueen, Visual Coordinator. After finishing their first season in a dissapointing Prelims performance, the team at Blue Angels came home knowing something had to change. The corps decided to take both season 5 and 6 off from DCP-I to restructure and become a new financial powerhouse in the city of Denver and IYMA. The corps spent time gathering new recruits, financial support, and created new ties inside the city of Denver and the state of Colorado. "We feel this time has been well spent. We now are able to come back strong into the DCP-I world....stronger than ever" - Carl Hall, Program Coordinator. The Blue Angels have been staying on campus at the US Air Force Academy for the last two weeks, and are thankful to the help from the men and women of the academy for giving us the chance to work here. The corps leaves tomorrow for Denver where the team will finish business at home and meet at the Corps Hall in preperation for their departure for the first show in Albuquerque, NM. The corps will arrive on Monday of next week and will acclimatize to being on the road and the warm climate of New Mexico before heading through the rest of their Western tour. -------------------------------------------------- Bleu Knights Corps Hall Boise, ID Bleu Knights are also gearing up for their next season in Division II. A new corps to the IYMA, Knights have been entertaining crowds for years with our sister group, Tri-Color Organizations. Last season, the corps placed in Division II finals, and starting this year, Bleu Knights will be a full member of IYMA and be touring the West before heading to finals in Charlotte. The team hopes to build on last year's success and have a great showing at Finals this year. We'll see you on the road. Our first show is in Torrance, CA on the 18th, so we will be departing Boise next Thursday in preperation for the show. The corps will take two days to reach California and then make final adjustments for the show. ---- IYMA is proud of their corps and are looking forward to a great season. See you in Charlotte!
  15. The only thing I've ever noticed is that a moustache can really irritate the upper lip and hurt. Otherwise, I've had a goatee since I started marching, no problem.
  16. no, in real life this doesnt happen. in this line of thinking cavies and cadets shouldnt have gone to denver. yet they did....
  17. i say no, for the reason posted above. having a few of the same doesnt hurt.
  18. no, and i voted no on the other half of this. i do not agree with the wording of the proposal. i say that 2 corps per director per division.
