  1. Of course these rules will eventually work themselves into DCA. Who do you think is going to be eventually marching in DCA? Members of DCI and the high school band members who are influenced by DCI. It may not happen tomorrow, or the next day, but in years to come the DCA activity will be something different than it is now. There will probably be amplification. There may be electronics. There may be woodwinds. We can never really know until the future membership of the activity are marching and make those decisions. Yes, they can be taught about the traditions of the activity, but they will have their own ideas as to how the activity should be run. Just my 2 drachmas
  2. I found it funny that Shockey was up in the box drinking beer. Reminded me of Lackawanna Stadium :-) Go Steelers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. So do you want to hear more? Why not come out and experience it firsthand January 13th and 14th.
  4. a well played trombone is louder
  5. Let's see the brass sections from the Chicago Symphony under Solti, the Montreal Symphony under Detoit, Bill Chase, Maynard, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gilespie, and the Tastee Bros all photoshopped into your favorite corps uniform. That would be a heck of an open house not to mention an interesting brass sound. :P P.S. Bush rehearsal Dec. 17th Garfield Legion. Come out and see for yourselves.
  6. This program is such a great place for all brass musicians. We also welcome ANY OTHER INSTRUMENTALISTS who wish to learn a brass instrument. We love taking someone who has never touched a brass instrument and training them to be able to read and play competently with any organization wether it be drum corps, community band/orchestra, or brass ensemble. Many of our players who started on woodwinds have continued their brass playing in other such groups. Feel free to come out and check out our next camp.
  7. "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent"-Teddy Roosevelt
  8. For those of you who REALLY appreciate old school brass instruments check these guys out: http://www.chestnutbrass.com/site/brassmusic/ The Chestnut Brass Company would like to announce the release of our newest recording "Distant Dancing". This recording features our touring collection of brass instruments, ranging from the 175 year old Bb keyed bugle by anonymous (Dutch) to Marian's Lawson Fourier (1999 American). Pieces on the recording include one of our favorite works for brass, Richard Peaslee's Distant Dancing. Warren Benson's reflections on dance is another fine piece for quintet titled "Steps". Both of these stellar new works for brass were commissioned by the Chestnut Brass Company. It can be found on Amazon.com. WOW A 175 year old Bb Bugle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty #### sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Monday April 17th DCA was mentioned on WNEP TV 16's broadcast. The story was about how DCA would not be returning to Scranton this year. Local retailers and hotel owners are throwing a fit because this was one of the most lucaraitive weekends of the year for most businesses in the area. Northeast Pennsylvania is going to lose over two million dollars of revenue. People are displeased to say the least and heads are gonna roll over this one.
  10. A pretty large contigent from the Baltimore area are members of the Bushwackers. We have camp this weekend in Rutgers, feel free to come on up. Contact one of us and we can get you in contact with our Maryland people to ride up together.

  13. This is looking to be one of the most memorable seasons that Bush has ever put out there. Fanfare for the New is so intense. Rehearsing it with the line the other day was a rush. I can't wait for our next camp (December 10th and 11th at the Garfield Legion Hall) to really dig into this piece. The trumpet book is screaming!!!!! Actually looking at the score all the parts are insane. What a great year to be a Bushwacker!!!
  14. Good Luck to everyone in the 2006 season. If you still haven't made a decision about where you want to march this summer you need to check out Bush 2006. This horn book is stellar. We guarantee that you will come out of the Bushwackers a better musician with a musical experience unlike any other you may have previously had. The design team is arguably one of the best in the activity. Its our 25th Aniversery!!!!!! You know that we are going to be pulling out all the stops to ensure this is a most memorable season. This is going to be a thrill ride. See everyone on Saturday Morning
