  1. To quote an ex-boss (RIP) “you can’t write this ####, no one will believe it”. Irony is his daughter had to drop out of Cadets due to health issue. Later caught corps members here saying “well then she wasn’t Cadets material”.
  2. Oh 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. Take it that’s the RI off I-81 by Linglestown/Paxtonia exit. Drive by there when going to my parents old house… next time will be tomorrow. 🥵
  3. Thinking more like Gotterdammerung where the head burned down everything around him. And this final mess could have occurred during the GH trial and publicity
  4. Googled too 😟. Sounds like one of those “every day I’m getting better and better” groups. If you’re really impressed with yourself I can see why you’d be involved. can hear my dad: “like to buy them for what they’re worth.. and sell them for what they think they’re worth”
  5. No response? What a freaking surprise. (Yeah blew up my sarcasm meter on that one).
  6. Wife had a cousin who worked at FBI. Cousin and I were joking around and he said “I’m gonna check your file when I get back to work”. Mother in law was “you don’t have an FBI file do you Jim?”. I said “sure it’s pretty thick by now… they got my fingerprints too”. 😈 Very few people knew I had a security clearance
  7. Definitely on the first, the meter is still running on the expenses.
  8. Back in the 90s our church started background checks for people around youth. Then it was state police check for crimes against youth and check if you were on the national abuse registry. Nothing like my security checks for DoD.
  9. What insurance from the time of the incident would cover harassment or abuse claims? Not an insurance expert but if they have policy from a different company…..🤷🏻
  10. Guess I was lucky my first year was with a corps getting back on the field. Rode with board members, sat in the back and kept my mouth shut. Got to hear how much red ink there was and how lot of people were holding their breath the corps would make it for the following year. 😦 No wonder I’m surprised the activity is still around
  11. Wonder how hard the legal expenses will hit DCIs budget. And if anything will be said publicly.
  12. Wish I could remember who on either RAMD or DCP chewed me out for saying corps are one big “oh crap” away from going away. Just surprised SCV is this far along in trying to get back.
  13. Going to cost no matter what…. win, lose or not going to court. Lawyers need to be paid for any work they do
  14. You never know what info people have until you ask, so why not ask. Also posting is a way to let DCPers know of answers are given.
  15. Irony seeing the posts about 1960s AL and VFW shows and discussion about changes in scoring priorities. Today discussion is going from musical to visual. In the 1960s it was trying to go from marching to more musical.
  16. Ditto here. Dad served (Army Corps of Engineers) in Korea during the war but only talked about when he was in Canada working on part of the Defense Early Warning (DEW line) system. Thank goodness for MASH as pieces started coming out while watching (Kimpo airfield was never that big when I was there).
  17. Years back had in laws that part of PA. They took us to Philly and they pointed out the Chester exit. “What ever you do.. DON’T GET OFF THERE!”. Then we spend an afternoon on South Street in Philly. Kept overhearing about a bar bouncer who got the crap kicked out of him. “Yeah man they were pros, must have been a mob job”. 😦
  18. Then we have the issue of does DCIs goals match the corps goals. And how close do the individual corps goals match each other. Some corps goals, if realistic just might be “freaking survive until next year”. (Sounds familiar to me)
  19. Hanovers horn instructor also played during the piston/rotor days. When I got my 3 valve I couldn’t resist. 😈 “hey Brian, ok valve 1 is right thumb (horizontal valve), valve 2 is left thumb (rotor)… what thumb is third valve” Got this “I can’t believe you said that” look. 😦
  20. Interesting thanks. I was a trombone player who could read music but…. What’s a fingering? 🤔 My first year was a rush job as we reformed and started late. So I still had fingerings marked my second year. Of course the markings were 0, 1, 2 and X (both). 😆
  21. To go with jwillis35 when I read “corps don’t take in kids who can’t read music anymore”, my response is “corps take the most talented members. If they can fill the corps with people who can read music then no need to go further “.
  22. Looking at it from DCIs POV. If rules back then didn’t tell the corps to notify DCI, and DCI was not notified…. Dumps it all on the corps laps….
  23. Yeah I’m looking at it as DCI is defending that they did what was legal at the time. Having said that they need to get the word out to all participants and supporters that things are a lot different in 2024. And wondering how much of this is costing DCI in legal fees and how that will affect operations
