  1. tat's cool, you made up for when your corps wanted to kill Ricky Lee back in 82. so we're even now. i dont know what your talking about :P I do, I remember that night. I still get a laugh from that one. B)
  2. I think there is a lot of people that don't remember things that happened during that trip. :P
  3. LMAO, in that case New Orleans didn't happen for a LOT of people. :P At least Larry wasn't the one passed out in the shopping cart in the hotel parking lot. Mmmm, guess this means the state of Virginia didn't exist on the ride home as I certainly don't remember it. Turning 21 a few days before the Nah 'Lins trip really had its' perks. ^0^ I heard stories in '81 of how the busses where stopping at 7-11's so people could go get more beer since they ran out on the way down to New Orleans.
  4. What was it that Mr Hershman was alleged to have done, but can't remember?
  5. It was Sun that followed Westshore. I had front row seats on the 50 backfield, and recall seeing Sun waiting for the doves to leave.
  6. Just wanted to let you know, it was at least 65 horns on Saturday night. B)
  7. I'm sure we can also find a sequined hat for him. He is a show-stopper!
  8. I think my hearing finally returned after gettiong blown out by Hawthorne and Westshore! Excellent concert and I was very impressed by Mass Brass. Hope to see you back next year!
  9. The Brigs had a hot tenor line for the last few years.
  10. Here it is, the IRS instead of going after people that do not pay but do owe, decide to target an NPO. To me, that is bull####!
  11. that would be the fastest I ever bought a dvd!
  12. The USMC uses a standard drumline size. 6 snares, 3 tenors, 4 bass and 3 plates. It's only the last couple years that the snareline went above 6.
  13. I have a real feel and I love it. I would not go to anything else. I've been using it for almost ten years. However, I think you really should try the different pads and go with what you like and the way the pad feels when you are playing on it.
  14. I realize everyone is posting DCI "ticks," but DCA has had their fair share also. I remember a drum major from a competing corps that would drive his mace into the ground from on top of the podium. At one show, he drove it through his shoe also, just missing his toes. Same Major at another show, forgot their podium, so they borrowed one. What they did not realize, was the podium they borrowed was taller than the one he used. When he came running down the 50 to jump on top of the podium, he hit it with his hip and had to climb up like any other drum major. In both cases, the only thing that hurt was his pride. The funniest mistake I can remember, but unfortunately I can't remember the corps involved or the year. I think it was the Yankee Rebels but again, memory fails me, they were playing pinball wizard and the bass line had a uni shot at the end. For DCA finals, they brought them up front for GE since the drums were rigged to light when they hit them and there were letters on the inside of the drum spelling tilt. Unfortunately, the "L" did not light up when the drum was hit.
  15. and they will not have to judge amplification and electronics!
  16. I am new to this site and I think it's great! I voted for a judge to be on the field. The problem here is, if you have one judge in the stands, they will see and hear all the great things the pit will do musically and also visually. However, they will miss things that the battery will do musically but still has the opportunity to see the visuals written into the show. But if we put the judge on the field, they will certainly miss things that are being played as well as the visual aspect of the show since they will be moving around the field to sample all the aspects of the battery and also the pit. So, with this being said, I feel the lesser of two evils is to leave the judge on the field. They might miss some things, but they will see and hear things that they might have missed being in the stands.
  17. I'm with you timpanE, I cringed trough most of the movie since most of what was played, was dirty!
  18. When you go to the music store for the sticks, you can also talk to the instructor as far as a good book for beginners. The old adage learn to walk before you can run is just as true in drumming. I recommend learning the rudiments as they are the base for everything else you play. But by the same flip of the coin, like Paul said, learn some basic tricks.
