  1. I dont know anything about 7th regiment but they sure put up a pretty good number this week. I am impressed. This should be a banner year. I think there could be a real battle for the medal positions this year. BTW- Go Teal Sound
  2. 1 Teal Sound 67.600 2 Capital Regiment 66.200 3 Revolution 65.500 Actual scores posted on dci.org Looks like some fluctuation between CR and REVO. Saw a picture of the new Teal uniforms. They look nice. D
  3. I have it like this. Teal Sound- 69.5 REV0- 68.9 Cap. Regiment- 67.9 I agree that the long travel could be a little tough on Teal but think they will have a ton of energy tonight to help them through. Good luck to all of them. D
  4. The Lake Erie Fanfare will be the first show for Teal Sound and their new uniforms. Hope someone will be there to give a review and take pictures. Also the first head to head between Teal, Cap. Regiment, Dutch Boy and REVO. Should be a good one.
  5. My .02 I agree with Randy not wanting to publish the amount and outcome on this forum. It is true that the plea for help was very public (and it should have been) but publishing the amount of money that was lost by a drum corps could invite future similar losses. In my job we always ask that the robbed convenience store (or bank) not publish the amount of money that was stolen. It definitely provides motivation to other theives. Besides- who cares what was stolen. The fact that the corps lost some of what they worked hard for was the reason I donated. Not to find out later in some strange curiosity how much the corps suffered. D
  6. Congratulations to Surf. Their move to world class is well earned and I wish them the best of success. D
  7. The 27th Lancers had a significant impact on the entire drum corps community. I dont think the same can be said for the JS version of Riptide. Not a "rip" on the corps or their winter line, but I dont see how you can draw the parallel just because TS used this name for their winter percussion ensemble. I think its time to put this one to bed people. They chose the name, appear to be happy with it and might have success. For the sake of the entire drum corps community lets not tear eachother apart over a name. Besides- How many Kingsmen corps were there at one time or another?
  8. Wow. This is a great hire for Teal. I couldn't think of a better fit to Teal than Campese. He is a Florida guy and has great connections in the business. I wish him luck. I also Wish Terrell luck with whatever his next endeavor will be. Great job, Randy.
  9. Nick- This could be almost one third of the brass line.
  10. True. The guys in green decide who wins. I didnt see the show but I was still shocked. Not saying SCVC didnt deserve to win. Just that I was shocked. Still, it wasnt the biggest shock of the day. That would come much later at the WC finals. All in all, I think that judging is always going to be very subjective (by its very nature) and a corps has to win and therefore another corps must be behind them (notice I didnt use the word lose). The personal problem I have with judging is that I believe the system is somehow flawed. Unfortunately, I have been thinking about it all day and can't think of a better way for the men and women in green to do their business. Maybe one of the great things about this amazing activity is that we as fans (and some members/support) all have our opinions to fall back on for justification when our corps doesnt do as well as we had hoped. When I called my source about the performance of my favorite corps (Teal Sound) in finals, I told them that I didnt care about the score they received as long as they had a great run. In the end, I hope that the members/staff of BDB felt like they had a great run and just didnt get the credit for that great run. Makes it easier for me to digest and I hope it makes it easier for them. Either way, they have a lot to be proud of this year.
  11. Dave- Grow up. For cryin out loud, Matt is a kid. You are supposed to be the adult here. Hmmm. D
  12. Dugada, How big is the crowd today? Better than last year? D
  13. Thanks for the blog. Devils is a class organization through and through. Keep it coming. D
  14. Me too. Spoke with someone in Indiana. Said Teal had a great run today. Hope they get a lot of credit from the judges for their effort. D
  15. Congratulations to the Scouts. Glad to see them back in finals. Crossmen and them were neck and neck all year, but I had a feeling Madison would clean enough to squeak in. I saw Crossmen three times and love their show. They will be back in next year.
  16. Band Hall commercial is very dirty. Lots of fuzz all over the place.
  17. I dont think so. What about Blue Stars. They came in 4th place in 05 and are now ready to break into finals this year.
  18. I agree with Mike on this. JS is ready for world and it is not only because of how they compete in the open class. Anyone that knows about open class will tell you that this year (and maybe last) the field is littered with really good drum corps. In fact, the quality of the overall open class is improving on a year to year basis (as far as I am concerned). These corps can flat out play. That being said, it is the business aspect and leadership of JS that puts them in position for world. A proven record of financial stability weighs heavily on the decision of Dan Acheson and the rest of the people at the home office. Good Luck to JS- I hope to see Teal Sound going that route eventually. I think they also have some of the right pieces in place to make the jump. D

  20. I agree with you. I looked at the recaps and found them to be all over the place. This was the biggest (and really only) opportunity for the top open class corps to compete head to head. Wake up judges. Get a glove and get in the game. The marching members deserve better. BTW- this is not bitter apples from me. Just not getting the recap and looking for a realistic answer as to how they saw such different things... D D
  21. Wow. You are not kidding. I just looked at the recap and they are all over the place. If I am in the top five I am not comfortable just yet. There were also a few corps (namely Spokane and Citations) that werent even there. Strap on. This could be a wild ride.
