  2. Everytime I see somebody from Bush on here throwing this transparent back handed compliment out it makes me understand more and more why I have been getting a beer during their performance every year for the last 25 years. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  3. I saw that. At least you know how to spell scores :) Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  4. Bush 92.738 Cabs 92.675 Hurcs 84.700 Sun 76.638 Sky 75.425 From DCA's Website. Recap not up as of 10:27. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  5. I was sooooooo happy to hear The Renegades Mini Corps do Give it One Last year. That is my favorite hands down. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  6. LOL! That's what I said. :) Looks pretty nervous doesn't he :P Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  7. Just when you think you are something else you have to see stuff like this :) I suppose it can either inspire you or crush your hopes and dreams :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdQtlsog2PM Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  8. I meant Hawthorne. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  9. They have been getting basted Visually (relatively speaking) all year. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  10. Well not ALL the difference, but a good bit of it. :) Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  11. Hmmmm.........again Hawthorne being left behind in Visual. Looks to be the difference right now. Or am I totally missing something. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  12. Based on the recaps........looks like the people who were livid heard the show correctly........just didn't see it correctly. Lots of room for Cabs to get some points Visually. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  13. You could barely hear the girl singing at all in Atlanta. I imagine that was probably a good thing :) Grace Slick she wasn't. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  14. I believe Boston played about 1 measure of Conquest in their show last year. I ran into their Corp Director in the Providence, RI airport afterwards and thought I would mention that isn't it funny how a corps can play a bazillion notes for 12 minutes and all they have to do is play 10 notes of Conquest and the crowd goes crazy (and they did last year in Boston). I don't think he thought that was as interesting as I did. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  15. That solo is UNREAL. Everytime I see the Hurricanes today, I think of that solo. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  16. Does 3 Locations (Williamson Bros. constitute a chain ? :) jk. I went into Champs (total dump), but didn't eat as I was meeting a friend there for dinner on a wednesday even though the plans were for Thursday :) I think the best BBQ I have ever had was a place in NYC called Virgils Real BBQ on West 44th. Anyhow.......I believe I am staying with the Cabs competing corps. Clarion I believe. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  17. Here's one to get the CorpsVets going........:) I am not sure what all the hub-bub is about Southern BBQ in the South. I have been to Williamson Brothers, Shane's, and Sonny's and walked away going......eh. I guess that was good. Maybe I just don't have the tongue for BBQ. Kind of like finding really good wings in the south. Good luck :) Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  18. From a Micro standpoint, I know nothing about this process. Keep that in mind when you read the following question and then answer..........I have never sat in during a critique.........I believe I heard during a segment on the ESPN 2 Broadcast last year that judges (DCI Anyways) have the opportunity to listen to the corps representatives to better understand what the corps is trying to achieve in the "What" category. If this is so, how much does the ability of the corps representatives to communicate their intent in the "What" category factor into the judges perception or vision of "What" is trying to be accomplished. Just a thought/question. I could be reading into this too much, but the spirit of some of the previous posts in this thread intimate concerns over the definition of what is truly difficult and what isn't. Even if a judge fully comprehends the "What", to a certain extent it would seem that interpretation of a corps stated intent regarding design is where you would see "subjectivity" from the judge. 19. We bought these tickets early. They are as follows: Section D Row 47 Seats 7 and 8 Face Value Per Ticket is 40, 50, and 125 respectively. If you are interested, please PM or EMAIL me through DCP. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  20. Actually Jerald, we just made the decision to sell the tickets. So I guess we'll see ya in Rochester :) Seriously.........I have two seats..........for all 3 nights. QF's, SF's and Finals. Seats are Section D Row 47 Seats 7 and 8. Face value for each seat is 40, 50, and 125 respectively. If you are interested, please email or PM through DCP. I'll post the same information in a more appropriate thread. Eric Watters Atlanta, GA.
  21. I would have loved to have seen the Muchachos play anything :) I am a HUGE Caballeros fan. I am sure my father and I will have a good time in Madison. We always do. Enjoy! Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  22. Believe me Mitch.........I totally get what you are describing in your last paragraph. I am just not a big fan of a lot of the music that is being played. Its get monotonous. For me anyways. I go for the music and in the case of The Cavaliers.......certainly the drill. And I am getting less and less originality......especially this year. I suppose if I was a bigger fan of classical music than I am, I would enjoy most of these performances more than I did. I certainly am not saying that what is being produced on the field right now is anything less than amazing. I am just saying that for this drum corps fan......I need more goose bump moments and when all the shows tend to run together the viewing experience suffers. I am not saying........let's all have a color pre.......but for me personally, I want to feel the music......I don't want to sit there an analyze it. There is a big difference between feeling and thinking........I had an English Prof in College that would deduct from your grade if you said or wrote........I feel such and such vs. I think such and such......because he didn't care how I felt......he wanted to know what I thought. Thinking is a lot of work and I do enough of that during the day :) I hope that as was the case with Garfield's show last year, that I'll enjoy the shows in Madison more after having seen them a few more times. Because I have other things to do with 1000 bucks if I am not going to have a ball watching these drum corps. Again......not a slam at all on the effort, intensity, dedication, and commitment being put forth and on display. I am the kind of guy that would rather hear something played poorly that really gets to me than something played expertly that evokes no visceral response. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  23. I can't believe I am going to say this........but my Father and I just had a conversation about whether we should sell our tickets to DCI's or not. We left the Atlanta show like eh. I enjoyed the Cavaliers. And pretty much all the music was good, but nothing really stuck out to me musically. Nothing like 2003. The shows are so estoteric. I mean.....I really liked the Cavaliers show...........but that's what it was.......a show. Just like The Cadets. Not a Drum and Bugle Corps Performance. I mean........when people are commenting that Carolina Crown has an "old school" drum corps show things have gotten away from my interests. We are still going to go, but I am not very excited about it. Glad its in SoCal next year. Because that gives me two years to decide if I should bother going to another DCI show again. Too much non-musical stuff going on for my taste. That is not to say I don't appreciate the music that is being played and the level of execution on display. But at 125 a ticket for finals........not so much. I only paid 100 to see Phantom on Broadway for crying out loud :) I have the Fox Theater downtown to go see shows. I want to see Drum Corps. I couldn't tell you a thing the Cavaliers or Cadets played and I watched both shows intently. Flame away. Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
  24. One more thing.....I like all drum corps......just some more than others. I think Bush and Reading are very good. And I don't march with The CorpsVets, so any condescending, sarcastic, back handed comments about The CorpsVets having cute or nice corps is totally lost by making that comment to me :) Eric Watters Atlanta, Ga.
