  1. Way back in 2012. But no one wanted to listed or even consider the possibilities. LOL
  2. You and I both sir. I think it's time to resurrect some of those threads from the way back machine to remind some folks πŸ™‚
  3. Depends on how the DCI and DCA lords market it. I would think for both side to come out on top with this you would need to put some sort of bonus ticket where as you buy tickets for DCI Prelims and finals nights and for X amount of dollars you get a DCA package as well. Then have a seperate tier package for those just wanting the DCA experience at a higher spiff. At least that is the way I would market the ticket prices. There will be plenty of fans at the oil can just looking for something to get into. Chances are of you give them something to do they will look you up.
  4. I always had to search for numbers and do what you did. Look at the websites and try and do some figuring to try and come up with a number on ticket sales. Seems like they did not like bragging about 2,000 or so in paid attendance at finals . Go figure.
  5. So I put together a comprehensive list of all the remaining DCA units that are listed for the season. Some have already gone inactive or switched over to Sound Sport for the season. The DCA website does not appear to have it updated completely and or accurately! Im sorry if I missed anyone or if the website was not updated. I am listing the travel times from the home destinations of each of the DCA units to both Rochester and to Lucas oil provided to me by Google Maps. The travel times may vary a little bit depending on factors. Reading Lucas Oil 9 hours Rochester 5 Hours Cabs Lucas Oil 10 Hours Rochester 4 Hours Bushwackers Lucas Oil 10 hours Rochester 5.5 Hours White Sabers Lucas Oil 8 Hours Rochester 11 min Hurricanes Lucas Oil 12 Hours Rochester 5.5 Roges Hollow Lucas Oil 5 hours Rochester 4Hr Columbus Saints Lucas Oil 2.5 Hours Rochester 5.0 Hours Fusion Core Lucas Oil 10 Hours Rochester 5 Hours Govonairs Lucas Oil 9 Hours Rochester 15 Hours Skyliners Lucas Oil 9 Hours Rochester 2:20 Sunrisers Lucas Oil 12 Hours Rochester 6.5 Hours Atlanta CV Lucas Oil 8 Hours Rochester 14 Hours Cincinnati Tradition Lucas Oil 2 Hours Rochester 7.5 You are asking for 5 more hours average on the road for MOST of these Units. 5 FREAKING HOURS. But you act like the world is ending because of 5 hours and its going to bankrupt your unit. I know members of units that travel more than 5 hours every weekend to get to their respective units for rehearsal burning gas and wear and tear on their vehicle just to get to rehearsal and yall act like its the end of the world. Geeze.
  6. Probably waiting to make sure these shows are actually going to happen. Last year I want to say shows got announced and then corps went inactive for the season which left some shows off the calendar or some just had to cancel the shows for lack of interest and or financing.
  7. Honestly I do not know how massive a recruitment source the DCA shows are at the DCI shows if your counting on the product you have on the field. You got to remember the raw product and performance level you are putting on at these shows and the time of the year you are putting them on. Its just not clean. In fact its pretty darn dirty. The few fans that are in the stands that actually see it that is the impression you are making on them????? So long as you have people doing the lot watching and waiting to show up when the Bluecoats show up I would dismiss any value of DCI shows as a recruiting tool and just use them as a chance to get a score.
  8. Word around the campfire is at least two units likely to go inactive/fold to finances. Another I hear is struggling to make numbers. But as someone else posted its early on that front
  9. And Hence THIS is the problem they face the most I suspect and have for years. When I was marching MCL back in the day we had a certain number of performers who were either music educators or DCI age outs that wanted to do the cutting edge stuff and have high show demand to impress judges while there was a large amount of the paying membership that wanted to do fan friendly performances. Come family days when we would put on performances the cutting edge fru fru stuff fell flat and it was hard getting support. On the flip side of the coin when it came to recruiting at band contest the next year when it came to kiddos they did not want any part of the group because we had these weird instruments that were not bright and shiny and were not running around on the field doing loop da loops. So I really don't think there is much middle ground to be had. Pick your poison and roll with it.
  10. I did a quick search and found this thread. Ill try later to find the Rochester Attendance Figure but It was around 2200 best I can remember. Because we were comparing it to Winston Salem Which was higher . Makes sense to me. If the organization is going to spend a lot of money to cross the pond they would want the most bang for it. DCI provides far more exposure and offers better venues for their members to perform for larger audiences than DCA. According to post on DCP by those who attended DCA in little league town attendance was less than 2k, was held at a high school stadium that faces the sun with bleacher seats and no aisle railings. Understandable why they are not attending DCA. paid attendance based on what you could see on the ticket order website as of the Thursday prior.Jeff Ream Westshoremen 89,90,95,96, 1996 DCA World Champions, Bucs drum staff 00, Empire drum staff 01 Shore alumni 02-14, RIP Sean Holton. We miss you and we love you Dealing with idiots takes a special kind of patience and a hint of perversion. Luckily for DCP, I have both to spare Live by the plug, die by the plug
  11. I want to say the last year they were in Rochester the Paid Attendance Figure that was announced was something like 2200. I could do a search for it but feel that is pretty close.
  12. Note: Georgia has a DCA corps last time I looked. πŸ™‚ just saying. As for the rest of your post I agree with just about all of it. DCA sometime around 2006 decided it was going to a DCI light version and set the wheels in motion to spiral into what it has become and lost till this day. Your average 35+ year old does not have the working/ off time/ schedule nor the want desire to hang with a bunch of people/ kids outside their age group that they share little/no social activity outside of the musical.activity. Now that electronics and housing have added a huge cost to tuition cost, no longer can a local geographical unit in the NE offer cheap.or free dues like it did in the past.
  13. I can only imagine its a two part thing. 1. The passion the inactive corps have/had over the years drives them to want to stay active in engaging in Social media about their former corps and experience. 2. Current Marching members in many cases are under orders not to post on Social media about their corps. Seems some directors and corps admin seem to think they want to control the flow and content of information out there. In many cases that leaves nothing but a flatline coming out of the corps Admins.
  14. Never say never. MLB is just now coming to grips with Pete Rose and his cheating scandal that rocked the MLB world back in the 80's. He just recently stepped out on the field with MLB support after something like almost 40 year ban. So anything is possible. I know a lot of Music Educators that still continue to be productive members of the Marching Arts community well into their 80's in various positions . So again..Its possible. Link to the Pete Rose Story Below for reference. https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/08/sport/pete-rose-baseball-rape-claim-philadelphia-spt-intl/index.html?fbclid=IwAR3r8Ogk4WMGScpIfcyJ3Oa1V269en-FtUhkS_2mxlwFsgxQp8G9kpaH4Mk
  15. I wonder if there is a way to read the Code of Conduct to see what it says? Of is one of those things you have to be in the know to know? LOL He's a turd in the punch bowl at this point and I don't ever see him being in good graces with DCI, DCA or any of the Marching ARts community ever again. With that said his creative arts cannot be totally ignored and his contributions no matter how you feel about his impact on DCI he left something of a Legacy in terms of product behind. I could see some sort of hammered out Negotiations or something in the Marching Arts community some day down the road for perhaps some sort of NON CONTACT type of Annalist positions with corps or Corresponding with corps Via email or Video on Show Design and such. But anything that would require Feet on the ground or Contact with the Staff or membership should NEVER be allowed again. Just my humble opinion.
  16. I would probably have security called on me and get thrown out If I saw him just being a jerk to him and making sure everyone around him knew who he was and that he is the DH he is convicted of being. But that's just me. πŸ™‚
  17. so I have been kicked off of about 2 DCI related social media channels today for sharing a letter from DCI that he has been circulating about him being put on noticed for trespassing . Lets go for a trifecta . Im sick of this pansy rear culture we live in. He is a predator and YOU are protecting him if you are banning me from circulating it. Bunch of BS
  18. This makes perfect sense. Free does not translate into good.
