  1. well...no. because DCA corps too can take advantage of the resale market and have
  2. well then i guess i pass your muster. i have corps marching, teaching, management experience as well as have been involved with negotiating for facilities for band circuits, judging in 2 different circuits, administration in a band circuit... #### i may be over qualified for this thread
  3. ah, but see Blue Stars weren't all in state...and weren't 20-21. In fact I know of several high schoolers who did Crown last year i know everyone wants to think all these corps are loaded with almost age outs...but the truth is very different...even the big boys. yes very few corps are in state. but if you build it right, kids will keep travelling. look how many Crossmen alums from the NE days still go to Texas, even if the corps isn't doing as well. but hey, why let the facts ruin a good rant
  4. great analogy with the Orioles. I went to see them this summer....still a great stadium, awesome food choices....but against the Angels, one of the best teams in the Al, the place was a ghost town. I had seats in left, but I could have sat behind the plate and i wouldnt have created an issue. so as great as that stadium is, if the product sucks, as Blatimore fans have shown, they won't go
  5. yeah well, little did he know they wouldn't let him do that. My hunch is this in a rare defense of Dan and the gang: they got told one thing. When August 2009 rolled around, those in control changed their minds
  6. they are. you'll never stop corps hopping. But with smart planning, and building your brand from within, you can slow it the hell down.
  7. one does make it everyone, but it shows you what can be done. it's not Blue Stars fault others can't learn from it and use it to their advantage.
  8. right. people will just stop going to Indy for finals. as many of us said then, the only way to make em listen is to hit the checkbook hard.
  9. no,. but maybe many of us have drum corps experience, and we also understand the business side of the activity better than you wish to give us lemmings credit for.
  10. find Bob Jacobs on here and contact him. he was asked about Magic 2002 and got info out here about that
  11. let me ask you a question John, in all seriousness... when people fork out $125 to sit on the 20's, what should be more important...that they can hear and see the show or all the bells and whistles the latest and greatest stadium creates? I have been to many DCI finals. I fought for parking in Madison. I dealt with road construction in Buffalo. I dealt with fog in Boston and a mid show shower in Jackson. I did all of the above in Orlando but dollar for dollar, I didnt care about any of that as long as I could see and hear the corps, as i would say an overwhelming majority of fans care about. so save the bells and whistles. Allentown is as primitive as it comes when you talk bells and whistles...but people adore the place. what message is that sending?
  12. I'd say many of them were. Especially since we have seen many people list where they sat
  13. and even with those resources, it still took Star time to crack the top 5. just having big names and money alone won't do it. time and patience is also required
  14. or...you can do like a Crown and Blue Stars and do things to retain them! imagine that...novel concept. you do realize when Blue Stars finally broke into WC and made noise, they had kids in the corps that had been there since the D3 days right? so right there, thats kills your argument. guess what...drum corps isnt about local loyalties anymore, and hasn't been for years. corps hopping has been something happening since at least the 70's, and from stories I've seen on here, well before then.
  15. good for them! so if thats what we can expect in DCI soon, I can go see them and pay less!
  16. hey you take care of him. we can amuse ourselves. and tell him to get healthy
  17. ah, so the paying customer isn't allowed to vent their frustrations. My god, imagine this world if we never questioned anything. Why, by God, we'd still be going to Al and VFW Nats (sarcasm off)
  18. i'm sure everyone on DCP has people they wished would disappear.
  19. and if Indy attendance does plummet this year, watch Allentown prices get jacked way up
  20. you have no idea what I do/would/can support. but thanks for playing. however, if i do not return to LOS after this year, I'm not taking one day to go all the way there for one show. I can get much more 90 minutes from home that requires no vacation time or hotel or airline costs
