  1. thanks...you may want to add that to the thread for that show
  2. whats interpreted out of context? nothing. we took the words the man used in his proposal.
  3. you do know it is possible to not like something personally but reward the fact it was designed well and performed well right? as for BD...honestly....in more recent times, the visual has been the driving force with them, not quite cavies like, but similar....they just play louder
  4. how so? kids can be very independant minded. I know i've been teaching them for 20 years. and I know some adults who cant form a thought without pop culture and mass media forming it for them. as for pro synth in drum corps fans...sorry, i dont personally know anyone who thinks its the saving element to take drum corps to the next level.
  5. get points for having it? no. but...could not having it affect the score? i'd say probably
  6. clean may help, but its got to have the package
  7. kids dont rely on their own thoughts? puhlease. and trust me, many adults can be led by the nose on what to think and feel. i'd give you feedback from people that like it. i just dont happen to know any
  8. yet there continues to be much debate about should parked batteries be given as much credit
  9. amplification is on the ensemble music sheet a part of the subcaption and it was there before every corps used it. synths could be the same thing
  10. around here, no one pays for in school band, but for marching band or indoor....yeah they do
  11. i think honestly Mike it has to be a combination of design and performance. given some corps have 200 plus pages of drill, every effect point doesnt have to be a huge programmed moment...it could just be the end result of finishing a musical phrase or the transition from one drill set to the next. again as been said...squeaky clean doesnt mean it's effective. the design could make no sense, but if it's squeaky clean....it isnt effective. I mean how can it be?
  12. here's the thing....on here, in the stands...i dont hear this groundswell, this mass voice of people shouting how electronics has made drum corps that much better. I heard high school kids.....the DCI target range of fans...laughing at it and calling it dumb and cheesy. a direct quote: "wow, thats every bad band we laughed at at championships last year" person quoted: 16/17 year old kid proudly wearing his bands gear. not a top band either
  13. if the electronics are listed on the sheets ( anyone have an 09 sheet to show us?) then you almost have to have it...if not, you're missing a part of the sheet
  14. Mike...given the attention to detail that goes into designing a DCI show, every single moment of those shows are planned out and programmed.
  15. last year, until they added in the story, a lot of people thought it was good, not great. not saying they can pull it off, but stranger things have happened
  16. actually these days, many band circuits have it in place you cant score below 60. and in 74 Westshore was so bad they were...well...alive.
  17. Rush is a perfect example of this. they got all kinds of synth heavy in the mid 80s...and by the 90's, while they used them for those songs already done, really, they havent been used much since
  18. heh. all this freaking out. wasnt Phantom like 4 points behind BD at San Antonio last year?
