  1. I left one out of my not-so-favorite food experiences: ~What's with the Jelly? I mean, why is it easier to spread aluminum than that jello-ish stuff?
  2. My best food experiences: ~When the food truck broke down/caught fire one morning and the support staff went to the grocery store to buy breakfast. We had the best cereal selection that morning. ~the bbq chicken we had in spring training ~In 02 when you shucked your own ear of corn and put it in the basket. ~Every time Crown and Cadets joined forces around the 4th and there was that loooong buffet ~The age-out dinner at the end of the season ~When the Aimachi director volunteered on the food truck in 05 and we had beef teryaki and fried rice. And sushi ~Walking around other corps trucks after a show to see if they had better food that night. Eating some if they did. ~Taking a plate of good food to my friend in Magic in 03. ~Who doesn't like Taco Salad?? ~Beef stir fry with the snap peas, rice, and texas pete. ~I saw someone else say it but it's worth saying again, canned frosting and graham crackers ~Breakfast burritos ~Drinking a cup of coffee before I woke up the field liners. ~Not telling them ~English muffins with a slice of cheese and some bacon on top. ~strawberry yogurt (if the guard didn't decide to pig out) ~biscuits and gravy ~When a dog tried to steal Matt Seagrave's waffle...Le'go my Eggo! ~SWEET TEA!!!!! Not so good food experiences: ~Tater tot casserole (after the 3rd day of having it) ~The drinks the day a new volunteer shuttle shows up.(thanks for trying though) ~When the food truck bought a new garden hose...tasted that stuff all summer. ~The cigarette-flavored spaghetti ~I was never crazy about the corps's hot dogs. ~The time in spring training at Indian Land HS when one of the guard members(supported by other guard members) wanted a lighter lunch.
  3. Star ≅ Crown That's how I compare it.
  4. What annoys me the most, and this goes for any marching activity, is when the member doesn't know how to wear the uniform or the uniform doesn't fit. Every member should wear the uniform exactly the same way. ~If you tuck your ears into your hat, everyone should. ~If you wear the shako on the back of your neck, everyone should(please God no) ~If you can see the wrist of a performer, you should see them all It's called a uniform for a reason. At least look uniformed. Also a dirty horn. That's another nuisance.
  5. Crown has been young every year. Not just this year or last. That's Crown. There has been a great deal of members march in Carolina who decide not to age out there. It is my own opinion that figuring out how to return +50% of the eligible members is Crown's key to the top. The staff and design teams are in place. Now what?
  6. I'll put money on the fact that bluecoats won't do any better than Crown does in knocking off the "big dogs". Crown has been just as competative in nearly every caption having won nearly every caption...just not on the same night.
  7. With the significant advances in media coverage of drum corps shows and the level of excellence the corps are performing at I have heard from other dcpers that the DCI scoring is in need of a revamp. I propose this change while keeping the scoring system in place: A review of video and audio footage for each corps's performance following the final corps's performance. - The reliability of this technology will only grow - The entire judging panel will get a second look and a second chance to get it right - Each performance judge may carry a personal filming device for analysis during review. - Playback can be provided as evidence to the ruling on the field I always manage to see and hear something new every time I watch and listen to a corps performance. This could be done all the time or in the event of a tie. This is just a suggestion. Not proposing a change or a need for the change. What do you think about this method if it were to be used?
  8. I saw injuries occur more frequently in members who had marched numerous years. The wear and tear of that amount of physical stress to muscles and joints will catch up to you. Every doctor I came across would always look perplexed when he knew what I or others were doing. Accidents do happen. I do feel that in most cases appropriate precaution is taken.
  9. I absolutely agree. I'm just saying that long-term planning isn't enough.
  10. ~you see someone wearing sandals with a sock tan-line and your first thought is "where do you march" ~you wear your corps jacket when it's 90+ degrees. ~When you tell a story you always start it with "we were in (insert city),(insert state) ~at a picnic a bug flies in your friends drink and he throws out the liquid. You lose it on him. ~you know the quality of H2O in each state ~you still have socks with astro dirt/turf stuck to them ~you mentally critique and know how to correct anyone's posture ~you still have white feet ~you can recall the dimensions of a football field in feet(field liners)
  11. Coming from that angle the Cavies are at a serious disadvantage. Also I might add that the Crown organization doesn't have the alumni numbers the other corps around them have. If the members and people involved with each corps vote constantly until voting stops Crown, being the youngest corps near the top, doesn't seem as if they would be capable of taking advantage of the system.
  12. Slowly building can also be a corps undoing. Growth of an organization, group, city, civilization, etc. doesn't follow a steady climb. Growth naturally follows an exponential curve. "Acts of God" (any event out of the hands of a group) can be expected but not accounted for. The best chance for survival is to stay ahead of the curve. If your goal is to grow, pushing pennies will inevitably strangle that growth.
  13. Are you saying Crown's demand is too high or not enough?
  14. Yeah that's it. They peaked the first week of July...
  15. I'll be there. Who else is going to the ATL regional?
  16. That's exactly what you're saying. It will just break the fabric of time for Crown to beat anyone ahead of them huh? Can't stand a younger corps beating up on an old one? Crown marches on the same field as the rest of them. Give credit where credit's due. I'm not a huge bluecoats fan but I admire and respect the fact that they are doing extremely well and entertaining the masses. Now I'm not saying Crown is better than sixth place or anything...
