Thanks for the positive comments about out scores. We get what we get. All we can do is put our best on the field. The scores will be what they are. Actually, the only fight for us is to determine who goes on first....us or Frontier...due to our membership status. But that is why we did these shows....to see if we can change that status for next year. :)

Nope......same judges. They just switched captions is all! I heard (and this is just hearsay) that the percussion judge got chewed out by the chief judge on Saturday for scoring incorrectly on the DCA sheets. So he probably overcompensated on Sunday.....hence the lower scores. -
I have an arrangement of Mission Impossible (the original) for 4 or 5 Contras. We could do that.

Hmmm. Guess they decided to only do 3 shows this year prior to DCA. Bummer. -

Eh, it wasn't all THAT bad. They were just out of straws, coke, and chicken noodle soup. They were also swamped at...what was it...something like 11:00 pm because of the rodeo letting out as well as about 10 members of MCL coming in. -

No, they are scheduled next for the Reading, PA show on the 26th. -
Absolutely top notch facilities. And a great bunch of people too! Amazing what you can accomplish with a 2-week break and only 5 hours of rehearsal time! :sshh:

At least it wasn't as hot as last year. I think the humidity only reached about 700% this year! :) -

They had an issue with their bus that prevented them from getting any marching rehearsal in. So the opted to go on in exhibition only. -

Sorry to hear this JJ. We were looking forward to competing against you this year. We will enjoy seeing your MiniCorps in Rochester though. Good luck for next year and know that your DCAS brethren at MCL will help in any way we can. -
DCP Prediction Polls?

DOH!!!! How could I have forgotten Cabs! Revised list: 12. Gold 11. Crusaders 10. Kilties 9. Corpsvets 8. Music City Legend 7. Brigadiers 6. Cabs 5. Bush 4. Minnesota Brass 3. Renegades 2. Buccaneers 1. Empire Statesmen -
I agree with THX for the most part. I think its ok sometimes for a lead player to "take it up". However, IMHO, the ONLY reason to EVER hang over beyond the cut off is simply to show off. Unfortunately in most cases the player "showing off" is degrading what could otherwise have been a memorable performance for the other hornline members.

DCP Prediction Polls?

I'll play too (even though I agree with Jeff R.) My picks are as follows...... 12. Hurricanes 11. Gold 10. Crusaders 9. Kilties 8. Corpsvets 7. Music City Legend 6. Brigadiers 5. Bush 4. Minnesota Brass 3. Renegades 2. Buccaneers 1. Empire Statesmen Of course this may just be wishful thinking on my part. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.....won't we!!! -
I disagree. Bb horns may be EASIER to play in tune but a well played G line will peel the faces off of the fans in the upper sections of the stands where the sound from those Bb horns just doesn't reach. And G horns CAN be played very much in tune if the line learns to listen to each other. IMHO a good G horn line would be at no disadvantage whatsoever to a Bb horn line.

Okay, who IS competing this season?

I'll have to go with '79 Guardsmen. Now there's a hornline. Couldn't march worth crap. But man could they play!!!!

The Corps that were represented were CorpsVets Gulf Coast Sound Music City Legend Heatwave Jackson Generals The Director of Shenandoah Sound could not attend due to an illness in the family. It was a very productive meeting and bodes well for the future success of DCAS. It was truly great to get to meet some people from the other Corps. To a person very nice people. Looking forward to the next meeting.
