  1. Is it possible that Jim Casella left one all male corps to go to another??? Z
  2. How about 98 BlueDevils for a very solid "down" opening statement. Its pretty solid when the best "Regiment" moment of the night happens in the first 30 seconds of BD's show. Z
  3. Colts seemed to have designed the show really well for the talent they have. Very aggressive tonight. Good show. Should keep Troop on their toes. Z
  4. When I first saw the Glassmen guard unis in 93 my reaction was "ewwwwwwwww" When I first saw the Madison guard unis this summer my first reaction was hysterical laughter. I have yet to decide which is the worse response. Z
  5. Worse guard uniform 93 Glassmen or 09 Madison???? Z
  6. Div II/III prelims and finals were not at the same stadium as Div I finals in 1994. Not only were they not in the same stadium, to the best of my knowledge Div II/III finals were not filmed in 1994. If anyone knows of a professional recording of II/III finals out there from 1994 let me know. I would pay good $$$ for that footage. Z Pioneer rookie baritione in 1994
  7. Field judges wanted no part of Crowns drill. Parked on the front sideline for pretty much the whole show. Z
  8. BlueKnights horn member in intro...biggest tick of the night :-( Z
  9. Has the Colts guard always been this clean or are they just have a REALLY good run tonight? Z
  10. percussion judge-1 spirit horn member- 0 Z
  11. Pacing seems strange for Cascades. Show has two ballads near the end back to back. I understand WHY they are playing Make Our Garden Grow...I just don't understand putting it back to back with Not While I'm Around. Z
  12. Same here. The best audio I am getting is from the high cam with the commentary. Z
  13. Really wish Troop would alter that last form. I understand that it is supposed to be an arrow and a feather...it just doesn't read very well at all. Z
  14. Glassmen ladders were 97. Bizet show. Z
  15. Amen Bal. I don't think I will get to see the show live, but I am wearing out my computer listening to Vanguard. I don't know what "it" is, but this show has it in spades. Z
  16. BK's guard needs to all get on silks sooner in the closer. All silks for just the last 32 counts isn't going to cut it. Z
  17. Digging the baris/mellos from SCVC. Nice showing for so early in the season. Z
  18. If the countdown is going to be shown in theaters, then I believe the 12 corps "countdown" is not an option. I seem to remember someone saying that theaters were less willing to show something that takes up a 4 hour block. Thus when the Countdown was changed to 6 corps and 2 hours you saw a large increase in the number of theaters hosting "the countdown". The countdown was shown here in Northern Kentucky for the first time and I was suprised at the turnout. The theater wasn't sold out but I would guess that there was over 100 folks at the event. Hopefully this means we will get the quarterfinals broadcast there as well. And as I have stated previously...I am all about hearing caption heads talk about shows in the countdown. Or at the very least member/staff who were actually involved in the show. If I wanted to hear a fan talk about drumcorps shows I would call a buddy of mine and ask him to talk about 2004 Cavaliers. Having members or staff reflect on a show allows us to see a show that we are already familiar with in a new way. My favorite part of the DVD's the past several years are the designer commentaries. Love or hate George Hopkins, its always fascinating to see what he says on Cadets commentary tracks. I have no beef with DCI trying the audience thing with the countdown. They tried something new. Now take that idea and tweak it and improve on it. It appears that the partnership with the city of Indy could allow for some more outside of the box thinking, and I will be interested to see how they incorporate that partnership in future DCI productions. 19. I understand why they are keeping the countdown at 6 corps and a 2 hour limit. So my idea would be to have a best hornline, drumline, guard, drill, etc. You could have all current brass caption heads come up with a list of the 10 best hornlines and then the fans vote on which one they would want to see on the screen. You could get rid of the fan interaction/participation by having say...Wayne Downey talk with Steve and Dennis about 88 Blue Devils before the show. I don't know exactly what the 6 categories would be but probably something such as best hornline- brass caption heads create an initial 10 corps list best drumline- pecussion caption heads create an initial 10 corps list best guard- guard caption heads create the intial 10 corps list best drill- drill writers create the initial 10 corps list best 13th place show- corps directors or hall of fame members create the initial 10 corps list. I don't know what would fill a 6th category. Possibly most underrated show. You could still do the short pieces on the current years camps and you would get a wider range of shows. Plus I would be interested to see what Downey, Delucia, Gaines, etc would have to say about some of the shows they created. I go every year regardless of the format, but I what I mentioned above would get me a little more excited about going. Z
