  1. When I was a moderator, and attempted to do such, nip these in the bottom before they got out of hand, I was accused, among other things, of bias, Nazism, hating the Renegades, etc, among other things. Hence, Lee runs amok now.
  2. Kanstul on G without a doubt. Blows much better than the Dynasty, IMO.
  3. :spit: Monitor deflection shields were NOT deployed in time Captain!
  4. It is much smarter to keep quiet and let people think you're ignorant, than to open your mouth and prove it. <$1 to Mark Twain>
  5. Win if you can, lose if you must, but always always cheat! :P
  6. Go Chris! Couldn't have gone to a better guy! Congrats to all the Cabs awardees! :)
  7. naah,, SUTA is old news. I wanna ask about Splooie! :P
  8. Well, it's hard to just put it in one category. I want Loud with quality. However, I want quiet with impact. I want music I'll be humming when I leave the stadium. I want technical stuff clean, and I want RFL to be RFL. Blow me back in the stands. But, if quality isn't there, then it sounds like crap. How's that for a circular answer? :P
  9. Dots and charts. You need to know what the form is going to look like, especially in a performance situation so that you can work the form, as opposed to dot diving. Teach the dot. March the form. Period. We're not perfect, and not everyone makes their dot every time.
  10. Admins replying to a report? I can count on one hand the number of replies I've received in response to a report. I've reported many posts. But what do I know?
  11. I see what you're saying about HS, because I remember experiencing it in High School *cough cough* years ago. In DCI and DCA (my experience is DCA, so it's all I have to draw on, but I think the same mentality would prevail), we all know what it takes to be successful. So, while, for example, the hornline is doing well, if the guard is struggling, the whole doesn't succeed. We all want to succeed. When I marched, if the Guard did well, we were happy. If the percussion did well, we were happy. However, we all wanted to succeed and the only way to succed was if ALL parts of the corps succeeded. Support of other groups was there and necessary to be successful. So, I don't think what happens in HS happens in DC. IMO.
  12. 1812 Overture in its entirety could be done...but it would still have to be chopped (it runs 15+ minutes)
  13. Probably not the place, but I'll chime in anway, since I was directly involved in both years. 2003 was classic. Brigs beat us (Cabs) in E. Providence, and we took that as a challenge. We went back, made some adjustments, and went on to defeat the Brigs at West Haven that year, then went on to win DCA's. I remember vividly both staffs running up and down the ranks telling both us and Brigs to keep your poise no matter what the outcome (in West Haven). The Brigs were nothing but class that night, playing tribute to us for ending their streak. Their ballad that year was haunting. The tribute they played to Empire at finals retreat was even more haunting. Bucs 2004 qualifies as definately underrated. They came out of nowhere to beat us at finals in 2004. I still owe John Adcock a 6-pack for that.
  14. 2000 SCV - Adagio hit 1983 Garfield - Z-Pull Sequence 1995 Madison - Closing statement, but the whole show is incredible 2004 SCV - Chord hit after Sop. Trio 2003 Phantom - Canon Reprise, but another whole show sensation. Forgot one (ok, it's 6, shoot me) 2000 BD - Pit feature.
  15. 2003 SCV 2004 SCV 2000 BAC 2000 Cavies (should have won) I haven't enjoyed a Cadets show since 1996 (Beef!). 2003 had potential, but when Malaguena was a complete rip from Blast!, I was lost. I'll throw one out there... 1989 Phantom. (New World Symphony)
  16. Go get yourself an Arbans book. Start playing from it. Doesn't matter that it's written for Trumpet. If you're playing mellophone, the exercises will keep you on your toes.
  17. I remember when the people who evaluate the program for CE credits attended our rehearsal in 2004. They were very impressed. And they didn't look like the type that impress easily.
  18. It is my understanding that the NE corps were NOT INVITED to the DCI meeting, and this was done on purpose. I could be wrong tho.
