  1. As a Board member of Music City Legend, I just want it known that all the speculation and conversation in this thread is not being made by members of MCL. MCL is not placing blame on any organization for the issues we have faced in the last year and a half. We wish only the best for the Music City D&B Corps and all of our DCA friends. Here's to a very successful season for DCA.
  2. HHmmm.......the wheels are already turning in this brain. And, as much as MCL would LOVE to host this Super Big Fantastic DCA Super Regional, are we accomplishing the location being in the center of the universe for the outer-lying corps? Although, if Paducah is the center of the universe, it is only about 1.5 hours from Nashville. Not bad.
  3. Although it's great to think this term may have started in the drum corps world, I doubt that it did. I grew up in the horse business, going from horse show to horse show every weekend. I heard the term "throwing babies" used whenever a horse made an extremely exciting show and brought the fans to their feet. So, it has more than likely been a term around any type of exciting performance. However, MCL plans to excite the crowds greatly this weekend in Atlanta and in a couple of weeks in Rochester. So be prepared for the raining babies!!
  4. Hey Tom! Looking forward to seeing you in September as well! We are looking forward to entertaining the crowd AGAIN in Mini-corps on Friday night, on the field on Saturday night, and AGAIN on Sunday night! We have definitely come a long way since your visit with us our charter year, huh??
  5. That link takes you to the Crown Ticket site. Sorry, that is not the MCL site. If you want more information about Music City Metal, go to our website www.musiccitylegend.org.
  6. Just got word that MCL's application has been submitted. Can't wait!! Had a blast last year!!
  7. I don't recall jumpin on you, or anyone for that fact. Sorry if it appeared that way. I did not intend to ruffle anyone's feathers here, especially you, who agreed with my original post. Good luck to your corps and all the others. I look forward to seeing them all.
  8. You are right. And I usually ignore these stupid polls, anyway. But, since Ed is a personal friend of mine and I have marched with him in the past, I just thought the list he posted was interesting. My feelings aren't hurt.......... And, once again, I remember why I usually don't post on these boards.................
  9. Oh...well, Thanks, Ed, for leaving us off the list. I guess it is just safe for everyone to just assume we won't be entertaining or in the hunt, either.
  10. OMG!!! Best January camp ever!! The excitement is there, the numbers are better than ever, and we are all loving the music ( and you guys know how MCL gets into their music!)!! DCA...............you are in for a treat!!
  11. Actually, the new DCI corps is not related to Music City Legend. However, Music City Legend welcomes the new DCI corps to Nashville and wants to create an environment where they support each other. Nashville has a lot of talent to offer!!
  12. We pulled together a mini-corps just to have some fun. Of course, it's always fun to play Joe's charts. We were extremely humbled by the audience response and I gotta tell you.......................we were still floating from that experience when we returned to Nashville. You can safely bet that MCL will be sending a mini-corps to entertain in Rochester again in 2009! Thanks!!
  13. Congrats, Brent!! We look forward to sharing the field with you....................again!
  14. To quote Smoothie...........Scores....Schmores!! All I know is we had the best performance all year on Sunday night and the crowd was on their feet. You could feel the energy on the field and we all had a blast doing what we do. We're gonna do it again for DCI this Friday night in McKenzie, TN and then on Saturday for DCA at Music City Metal II. The only scores I'm gonna pay attention to are the ones we get on Saturday night, but I plan on entertaining the crowd on BOTH nights!!
  15. Yes, Dale Bari, that would be the one. I personally do not know much of their more recent football history, but I do know that Cumberland University has an excellent music school, with Joe Murphy at the helm. It is a beautiful campus and we thoroughly enjoy being there for our rehearsals. BTW...........thanks again for all the great comments about MCL. We are very excited about our show this year and have big plans for DCA!
  16. Thanks for the warning, Tom! Dick didn't say when he was coming to Nashville, but I am assuming from his post that he will be here just in time for Music City Metal II, our home show on August 2nd. We are honored that he would join us. I'll do my best to keep him out of trouble!! What are the chances of seeing Tom Peashey in Nashville again?
  17. Sean, Is it possible to put an order in for highs in the 80's and low humidity for that weekend? I wasn't looking forward to doing 6 parades with a 3 layer uni and plastic oven (hat) on my head, but thankfully, we have come up with an alternative parade uni that should help. Nevertheless, I thought that putting in my order early for some decent humidity might help!! We're looking forward to being back up in VA and seeing you guys!!!
  18. Music City Legend, I am very proud to say, has formed a corps from the start with some very smart financial planning. The original group who were MCL in 2003-2004, did own or purchase their own horns. My husband purchased his contra that year, used and being sold by another corps, for around $4000, I believe. Each year after that, we budgeted money every year for equipment purchases. Each year we would pick up a few horns here and there when we found good G horns being sold by another corps. We are now in our 5th year, we own a full line of horns, battery equipment, and now a 30 ft. trailer. Our budget this year includes the purchase of pit equipment. All has been done without any financing, but with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. We, just like every other corps out there, struggle with fundraising. It's not easy at all. But, we are fortunate to have board members who devise a budget and we do our best to stick to it. I am very proud to be a part of this corps.
  19. I play mello for MCL. Unfortunately, we don't have a Mark Hudson. However, if he's in the area, tell him to come on over! We can certainly make a place for him and we have a horn ready and waiting for him!!

  22. Music City Legend is proudly using G horns.
  23. Mental note............ Keep the glue away from Toby. I think he's had too much.
