  1. Is there a Web Site for Empire Percussion?
  2. Bump because our 1st meeting is this coming Saturday the 28th.
  3. Man, I just sold the two Kings I had. Sorry. I have two Conn marching Baritones that look the same as the King. The only thing is they need lead pipes, cases and a little bell work. All slides and valves are good.
  4. I kinda like the Dynasty/DEG II Baritones. :) We have 7 of them in various levels of condition. The Chrome Finished Baris seem to have held up over the years except for two that might have belonged to the Freelancers at one time. They have lots of dings on the right side where they look like they were banged against something repeatedly. :sshh: :P Luckily, I'm on good terms with a Brass repair shop close to home.
  5. I'll see your Bump and raise you a Bump. :P Still on schedule. Got G Bugles in 4 Voices.
  6. I was at a corps show my high school band sponsored in Overland Park, KS. This was 1982, I believe, and the first time I had witnessed Drum Corps in action. I thought the Sky Ryders were loud when they performed but the Crossmen Hornline caved in my chest and just about knocked me off my feet. That's what got me started on my plans to enter the activity.
  7. We will have our 1st meeting of 2006 on Saturday January 28th at the Olathe Wesleyan Church in Olathe, KS 15320 South Ridgeview Rd. Olathe, KS 66062 from 1pm to 3pm. The 1st hour will be for presentation and discussion. The second hour will be for sectionals. We will add M&M to our next three indoor practices. The dates and times will be announced as soon as the Church approves the rest of our schedule. The plan is to have our meetings on the last weekend of every month. Keep track of our updates on our site at http://prairiesound.homestead.com/ If things go well, we hope to send a Mini corps to DCA this year. Thanks, Jeff, Prairie Sound.
  8. Naa, their going to say Junior Corps is for the Children. It would make a cool reality show though. b**bs
  9. No, that was the year our buses were impounded in Boulder, CO. for a week. We missed out on more shows and money. It was in USA today.
  10. Are you able to march now? With all the Corps sprouting up there must be one kinda close.
  11. Yea, lots of drama in 87. :sshh: It was the best of times and the worst of times. #### Tour 87. ^0^
  12. I have an Olds Ultratone II as well and love it. I got mine for $100.00 off ebay. I saw one a week later sell for over $200.00. b**bs
  13. Like I've said before. Full touring Junior Corps are probably not going to keep getting the number of High School kids they got in the past. The reason is the changing of many school years to all year round with 3 small 2 week breaks. The alternative is Division II or III Junior corps or Senior Corps. I think the upsurge in DCA is the result of many former DCI participants of the 80's & 90's getting interested in performing again. This coupled with High School kids who can't march DCI due to finances and the above mentioned reason are a big reason why DCA is exploding now(meaning big growth). I think it's a sign of the times. I think the revival of local corps is cool, I'm not hatin it at all. We will build our Senior Corps and if we see a need for a Junior Corps we will send the kids to the Silver Sabres or develope our own Junior unit. B)
  14. With the name Polaris, you might check into sponsorship from Polaris ATVs in the form of a vehicle to pull your pit cart. B)
  15. Not the Muchachos, The Three Amigos. B) B) B) They'll probably be in I&E since there are only three.
  16. We have three King K-70s, one with thumb rest on bottom and 2 with it on top. I just thought someone had boken the "thumb thingie" off and put it back in the wrong place. I played a King Baritone for Sky Ryders in 85 with the "thumb thingie" on the top of the slide and I think they were bought before 85. Of course, if you try to ask the people at King anything about their old bugle line, they act like your crazy and claim they never heard of King Bugles. That has been my experience.
  17. Crawling up in a fetal position sucking thumb. :( Sure is something to take to heart and avoid repeating. :( Thanks for the raw details. I'll try not to have any bad dreams tonight. :sshh:
  18. Does anyone know if the debt will be taken care of so the name can be used again?
  19. We are going to have 12 Baritone players and 2 Contras. Will using Loud mouthpieces help us sound like a larger group? Are they worth the Investment? What say you?
