  1. YEAH HURCS!!! Continue forward! ahh...Shelton HS, ye olde stomping grounds :)
  2. I believe there is a place on the DCI website where people can go on and stated where they are from, marching or auditioning
  3. You do notice that Nancy is doing that "hide..theres the paparazzi" pose,,,,, or is she trying to sneak a peak at something .....???? hmmmm
  4. Sure did Tony.. in fact most of the conversation was about you!! Ahh... the days of the Beantown Pinto !! lol It was a good night with them. Barb ate all the bread on us, twice, so we had to keep reordering, then hid the basket from her...!
  5. Howdy, all ..had a great dinner and conversation with Fran and Barb last night. Barb looks great ! Thanks to both The man holding the flag is indeed a VICTOR ! My Dad. Who marched in the A Squad with Harvey, then during the last few All Male corps days was in the "working" guard on flag! After the corps added females in 1977, Harvey pulled him back in and handed him the Storm Warning Flag to carry. He was the person in the color pres. to carry the Am Flag and then carried the Hurc flag during Mag 7 Harvey used to tell the Honor Guard they had rehearsal at the shows. They would show up march once ..maybe twice up and down the parking lot then nap !! One time harvey had my Dad marching up and down the 50 to practice for the American Salute .... My Dad would sometimes, as they practiced "the move" as Harvey called it, decide to start doing his own drill, Harvey would be thinking my Dad was still behind him, yell out a command,,wait and it would take a few minutes before he noticed he was alone on the 50 ..my Dad marching towards the end zone!! When I became DM for Hurcs, he would always call me Captain/ Captain time to move the troops.. Captain, too much fooling around on the field. Harvey was strict, lol He told me at the last DCA he performed in that should anything happen to him, he wanted to make sure I knew that my Dad was to take over the position he held for so many years. My Dad was proud and honored. My Dad was originally founder of Conn Vagabonds back in the late 50's. Held many positions in the corps, including Director.. Apple I guess doesn't fall far from the tree. :) Miss both these Gentlemen, thanks for the pic!
  6. nice one for the saluting fellow Mike.... however ... guy on left is NOT Milton Labonte - aka "Whispers" but this fellow DID take over Harvey's Captain position when Harvey passed in 1984, and continued in that position till 1991.
  7. The guy , who shares his name with that large rabbit, and saluting, used to make all his honor guard sit in the front of the bus with him (this was so he could partake of the foods and beverages in THEIR coolers) .. one of the people in his entourage was also the bus driver for the company we used. One time we were lost and Carmen (bus driver)kept taking the bus in circles,..well , actually it was common for him to drive in circles,, even getting out of the Sutter-Terlizzi parking lot took some time with him ... anyway,.,. after circling the same block a few too many times, the saluting gentlemen made Carmen pull the bus over where there was a cop standing.. Carmen did and the gentlemen proceeded to get off the bus and talk to the police officer. Carmen was then asked to get off the bus and told to take a sobriety test! We still to this day don't know what he said to the cop...but we were then escorted to the highway!
  8. My thoughts and prayers go out to Larry's wide Debbie and his brother Dave, and to all his family and friends. Larry was fighting pancreatic cancer, and they were to have a benefit for him to offset some of the expenses before he succombed. Prior to Hurcs, Larry marched with the Emerald Cadets and Emerald Buccaneers. He will continue to WALK PROUD in all our hearts
  9. Very true Frank.. and also DeLucia, Barabro, Luedee, Johnson, Pratt .... oh so many more.. and a very true statement, you make in your last paragraph ! Thanks for writing a great article !
  10. (quote) Wow! Can I like...just...touch you? Some of all of that brilliance must have rubbed off, and if you just do the "E.T. touch my forehead" thingy maybe I'll become the drummer I always wanted to be. Very impressive company you keep... Loved the article. I've touched Frank.... Its not as exciting as you may think !! LOL... j/k Of course I still have a loss of hearing in my left ear from some note he played at me during a concert in 1977 !! :)
  11. THANKS Matt... we have a few already. Just not in the spots I need !! lol Best of Luck with Frequency
  12. Remember that even though it is named for company that makes air conditioner products ..there is NO air conditioning in the Syracuse Carrier Dome ! I know one of the years we were there, SU played a game that weekend
  13. John was a gentle giant... lots of storys with him and Ron Findley when they taught together. and the time he held up the dust bowl 100 degree Sunday show in Hartford in 76 due to some bad chinese food he had !! and he had a GREAT nickname too!! lol
  14. STAFF SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE><<< .... First Auditions October 18 ! BUMP !
  15. (copied for DCI post) Heard earlier tonight that Annie Sullivan passed away today. Bob and Annie were legendary fans of ALL drum corps. They were ALWAYS sitting right there in the front row, DCI, DCA, it didn't matter, they loved the activity and all the people in it. Thoughts and prayers are with Bob as he deals with the loss of a lifetime love.... .Bob and Annie were also huge CorpsVets fans and could be found at almost all CV events! Her last outing was seeing ALL her favorite DCA corps', epecially CV, at this years DCA .. front and center.... wrapped up. but determined. RIP Annie, I hope there was a great hornline waiting to bring you in the gates playing all your favorites. ... thoughts are also with you Bob at this time.
  16. I am so glad I got to spend some time with Annie and Bob at DCA finals. They are both HUGE corps supporters, and that chilly night in Rochester she was wrapped up in coats and blankets and her Eskimo boots as she was determined to see ALL of Finals... Bob wsa worried she wouldn't make it to 2009 Finals, but Annie is a tough one ! They were always great supporters of me when I was with Heat Wave as well as being DCA-S coordinator.... and were the FIRST to welcome me into the CorpsVets family with a big hug and kiss! God Bless you Annie.. . and Bob my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time Love to you!
