  1. My question is whether JetBlue will name a plane "Blue Devils" in-keeping with their naming convention used for their fleet. That would be pretty cool.
  2. .... or it could be an attempt by DCI to provide corps/show sponsors with the ability to earn a few more dollars on these early season shows by not burdening them with mandatory costs associated with a full panel .... or, even given the opportunity to save some money, some show sponsors are willing to take the financial hit to provide the corps that participate in their shows a better 'read' on their programs - helping ensure their shows are well-subscribed and attended .... or any number of reasons. Perhaps a note to Tom Hope, the DCI Pacific coordinator or Dan Acheson, DCI Executive Director would provide you with the "proof" you desire.
  3. If my memory serves me correctly, the show sponsors (corps) on the west coast (DCI West) have elected to spend the extra money to pay for full judging panels and take the hit against the profits for their shows. There is no "reward" for the west coast from DCI. I'm pretty sure that if the show sponsors anywhere else in the country wanted to provide a full panel for their early season shows, DCI would be more than happy to provide (sell) them.
  4. Just had a call from a friend in Leeuwarden, Netherlands to advise that Blue Devils International plan to broadcast their performance via Periscope LIVE at about 12:45pm PDST (3:45 EDST / 9:45pm Local). Check out @TheBlueDevils on Twitter. More info here as it becomes available.
  5. I too am excited about this show - which will be a great way to start a 3-day weekend of drum corps in SoCal ... with a great line-up. I have it on good authority that there are still some seats left, so come join us in Oceanside. -john
  6. There were a couple of reviews posted on the iTunes App Store recently that indicated that DCP recommended an App other than DrumScorps. There is nothing further from the truth. For the record: DCP recommends, supports, endorses, (and POWERS!) only Thanks to all that have downloaded and are using (and loving) it.
  7. I think you're referring to Tom Peashey .... and I have no knowledge of Tom being 'easy'.
  8. I'd like to offer that we have our own scores reporting, recaps, ranking, side-by-side comparison, and scoring history features - right here on Drum Corps Planet. Click on the image above ... or on the "Scores/Stats" link in the menu bar just below the DCP logo at the top of the page for this year's Event Calendar and all of the features. There is also the DrumScorps application for when you're out and about, which is available for your iPhone/iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices as-well. -john
  9. THANKS for the heads-up. The database has been corrected. -john
  10. The recaps are up now. The time will be a variable that we expect will go down as the season progresses. No definitive answers on that yet.
  11. Another note regarding scores .... we will probably not have recaps posted immediately for the first few shows. The total scores will be available quickly - but recaps will be slightly delayed. We see this as a very temporary thing that will be resolved shortly.
  12. Folks - while I like to geek-out as much as the next person ... let's stay on the topic of the new DrumScorps application. If the thread continues going down the geek path, I'm afraid it will risk being moved to the Off-topic Tech forum. Thanks! -john
  13. The data for the Crossmen's location has been updated. The recap format is the same we've had for a number of years now for our Caption Ranking System scores. Ordinal values are provided for all captions and sub-captions ... and the top 3 (using the Gold, Silver, and Bronze metaphor) are indicated. There are a number of really cool things in those pages - check it out.
  14. The DCP Forums already provide a 'mobile version', if your browser identifies itself as a mobile device. I find this 'mobile version' very functional and extremely easy to navigate and select what I want to view. Simply visit the DCP Forums with your mobile device. (If you're having problems with this, please post a note in the Member Service Center Forum - where someone can have a look and get back with you.)
  15. The scores are driven by the same data we use for the DCP Caption Ranking System .... which often are updated within just a few minutes of release. Sometimes it takes a bit longer ... but most of the time we're pretty quick.
  16. It won't look any different ... just larger. There is not an iPad version, per-se ... and no plans to create one at this time.
  17. As promised - we are happy to announce DrumScorps. More info at:
  18. Ummmm ... DCI doesn't have an "extensive data archive" either and certainly doesn't provide any data to us for use. All of our statistics and tour info data are assembled by DCP. It is a simple matter of time and resources.
  19. John - the app is built to support both, but our repository of DCA data is rather incomplete ... so we've elected to remove DCA events and scores for now. I'm looking at this for the future. News from the DCA category is certainly available by selecting "DCA News" using the filter (upper right corner on the News page).
  20. I'm very excited about this app. Drew has done a great job putting it together and we're happy to make it available for the Drum Corps community. Enjoy! -john
