  11. I say, let the G7 do their own thing, but not with DCI. They are rigging more drum corps to fail. They should move on to do whatever they want, they will be missed, if they got a better idea on how to do things and make more money for themselves let them move on. "G7DC" But a new deal with the remaining DCI corps, and a new money plan with all the drum corps including open class, so it fair for them too. The better corps gets paid more and the worst corps paid less, so it doesn't start any mediocrity. A system is need to help the remaining corps and help new corps that are forming a fighting chance to make it. But corps need to be better with money and recruiting, so the numbers of corps grow, not even less drum corps. A drum corps tzar, need to happen, that person or his team goes out to corps hometown, helps them get better with making money and recruiting. Helps them get better at being a drum corps. The Chef Ramsey ( as seen on Kitchen Nightmares) but with drum corps. So that the sport of drum corps grows and those G7 corps will be missed but replaced, but with new better corps in bigger numbers.
  12. Drumline Hero, I'm for that, is going on sale at Wal Mart, It's on Wii and X box and Play Station and PC and even I Phone too. LOL Ok not really.
  13. What is the hottest thing in music right now? A pair of video games ─ Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Anyone can play. The games allow you to become a member of the band. Each game offers a range of pop music hits on game controllers that look and feel like guitars and drums. What makes these video games so much more impressive than “air guitar” is that through the use of something called the instrument game controller the player actually experiences the visceral feeling of performing music. You can even improve if you practice. So, why not Drum Corps Hero or Marching Band Hero ? That would be cool to see happen some day.
  14. MCL should do Small Drum Association (SDCA), in this tight economy, the business model of doing either DCI and DCA has become to expensive. Check out SDCA http://cdraferrara.tripod.com/ Corps should look to do this drum corps business model, "indoor drum and bugle corps" Help grow the sport of drum corps again, don't wait til there is 6 corps left in the nation to start think about growing more drum corps. Corps that are on the edge should rethink about the size of their corps, the staff and the amount of shows and and travel expenses. Smaller drum corps are the way to do it in this economy.
  15. That was Notre Dame band , how did they get that gig ? Drum corps need to some thing like this, for fundraiser and promoting drum corps.

It has 1,699,838 hits, not bad.

  18. Hi to everyone. I'm staring a small (indoor) drum corps (SDCA type ) all age, and in need of any good ideas when it comes to recruiting, what works ? Now I have heard getting good instructors and they bring in the recruits (members) but staff is sometimes to busy with other things ? Or go to marching band shows, indoor drumline show and such, recruiting there, but what are some other ways ? Word of mouth a must. What has work for your corps in the past that got the members into your drum corps? any idea even if you haven't march in years, or decades. Recruiting seem to be difficult for everyone, so please post something, this could help out every corps out needing members.[/b ]I think having someone in charge of recruiting should be a must and shouldn't stop recruiting til maybe a few weeks before the last show of the season, and someone the corps can count on to do a good job. It's an important job and a lot of thought should be put into getting the right person or team doing it right. Thanks for your time.
  19. Off World Invader V3 Practice Pad $59.99 used by Banished Beyond Also check out the Ram Pad Marching Series Original Series for 59.00 Both have a drum rim design right into the pad for a more realistic feel. Off World V3 Invader Check it out at http://www.2coolpercussion.com/index_042.htm Check out Ram Pad at http://www.2coolpercussion.com/index_027.htm Ram Pad has a real tunable 10" drum head and a real drum rim with tenion rods. 23. I tried a drum key on a piano once to try to tune a note on a piano, middle c, it was so out of tune something had to be done, even with my relative pitch it was killing me and everyone else in music theory. So I tune that middle c with a drum key ( red handle Ludwig ratchet key) and it work, that middle c was much better sounding. But a longer handle on a drum key would have helped. My former music college has a blind guy do all the piano tuning, all but that piano I was talking about. It was very old grand piano.
  24. Very nice snare drum. Like the snare system and the rims and tenion casing. Cool, is it going to be at Namm show in January ?
