  1. Mike Jackson is at the forefront of one of the most talented High School drumlines IN HISTORY (Mission Viejo). He is also at the forefront of the most innovative drumming and performing unit that is in WGI today (Riverside Community College). And we all know what Mason can do. Well done Vanguard.
  2. They have world class competing units in the Scholastic class in WGI, but it's not like they go up against the independents in WGI like they would in DCI... But I guess it's a good idea.
  3. Face it, no shows in 1999 would come close to winning in 2005.
  4. 7. The Bucs use Zildjian Classical Orchestral and Symphonic Viennese cymbals. 18", 18", 18", 18", 19", and 20" sizes. Your comment about the tones being the same on same size cymbals is not valid. Every cymbal pair has a different tone...
  8. Cymbal lines will not flourish again until people educate themselves on the evolution of the marching cymbal ensemble. If you want to see what it's REALLY about, watch the WGI independent world and open DVD's from this year. It will also take some education to the people writing the books too. Who wants to bother hiring a cymbal tech or cleaning cymbals, or any of the things involved with it, when you have no idea what your doing to that fourth staff on the page?
  9. Most recently, dpl has been mine and Matt's gig. I've posted up a few explanations as to what's going on with the site, it's been a couple months, if you search you can find my posts In short, we no longer have the support of a sponsor who was extremely generous (thanks to Scott DuBois of Compel Solutions, formerly NDC Tech). We need help, I've asked for it, but no one's really stepped up, with the exeption of Kurt over at shotdrum.com who's hosting a handful of our mp3's right now. What we need more than anything is $$. I am confident that we can get the website up and running as a full on legit non-profit organization. Problem is, that's really complicated. So.... WANTED: Someone with business experience and legal writing experience. Someone who can help the website become non-profit, who can help form corporate relations, and who can make smart business decisions. If you can help, please email me, karlhermann@gmail.com Also, in a week or two I will have mp3's from the Las Vegas regional, and we will need a place to host them. If someone is willing, shoot me an email. -Karl
  10. I believe they are making that statement against former Ludwig product, not against other products on the market.
  11. Yes...I'm not Chris. Magic is supposed to have these drums by their next camp. I'd look for a report on them from there...
  12. From http://www.drumhard.com To answer a few questions: Magic has agreed to a relationship with Ludwig/Musser for the upcoming season and beyond. With this deal it brings all of the corps instrumentation under one roof, horns being King, pit being Musser, and battery being Ludwig. We will be using all prototype drums coming clean off the assembly line in April. These drums are 4 generations ahead of whats currently on the market. It is the hope of Ludwig and The Magic that together they can work on developing a line of instruments that will bring back Ludwig to the field as the instrument of choice. Our 39 member percussion section is looking forward to getting their hands on the new stuff and I will gladly answer any other future questions after many a beat has been thrown and the drums are road tested..... 13. Gotta put in my usual props to drumhard.com. everyone should check it out. http://www.drumhard.com
  14. XL Percussion is also throwing in a carrier, and a case for the winning drum...Check this out!
  15. I don't know. You can't even see the top rated anymore on power92.3's website. My guess is that they took it down cause people were rigging the votes.
  16. Columbus Percussion is now accepting emails on why we should "Pimp" your drum. We are going to pick one e-mail and that person is going to have their drum customized to the extreme. You have to own your own snare drum, set of tenors, or a marching bass drum. You have to be willing to let us max out your drum and make any modifications necessary. The winner will not only get his drum "Pimped" by CPP but will also receive 24 pairs of Pro-Mark sticks and other Pro-Mark goodies. Evans drum heads will be giving the winner top and bottom heads, drum keys, Evans apparel and more. Dynasty has also agreed to give the winner a brand new drum to go with the CPP "Pimped" drum. Columbus Percussion will also put a new finish on the drums of the 2nd and 3rd place email winners for free. We will also have Ralph Hardimon, Mike McIntosh, Scott Johnson, and Matt Savage on hand to reveal the drum at the WGI World Championships on April 16th 2005 in Dayton, Ohio. The deadline for entries is March 15th 2005. The emails should be sent to: pimpmydrum@columbuspercussion.com Keep checking the Columbus Percussion website for the top 10 emails and updates on the "Pimped" drum. www.columbuspercussion.com _________________ Mark Reynolds mreynolds@columbuspercussion.com 1-800-422-1715
  17. You might want to try and grab a indoor floor sheet from someone or maybe a program. It also depends on if you want to teach how to march the indoor steps as well since they aren't a proper 8 to 5...
  18. They went under in 2002 or 2003. Don't really remember the year.
  19. I guess the only way to get that kind of stuff is to see if you could get a hold of the technique packet of the corps of your choice, or you could get a copy of championship concepts for marching percussion by Thom Hannum...
