  1. Sal....No hell no and no again. I would point a finger at myself before I would ever point one at Sal. I knew how bad it was and I did not raise my voice loud enough to the Alumni so maybe we could of stopped the bleeding. I am so sorry I did not do that. I do think about the what ifs more then I should. Again, from the bottom of my heart and soul I am so sorry. Pointing fingers and placing blame does no good today. The Glassmen Family must heal and come together under the GAA so that we can move forward as one. I will no longer play the blame game. In no way shape or form do I talk for the GAA. My views and ideas are mine alone. This is the second time that the Glassmen have folded do to money issues. The Alumni stepped up to the plate bitd. The Alumni can do the same today under the GAA. Do to the high cost of start up and maintaining a DCI World or Open class Corp putting the Glassmen back on the field under DCI is not an option at this point in time. I do feel that there are options that the GAA could fund, maintain, and sustain long term. Our history can be traced all the way back to the Maumee Demons. Who by the way were a good all age Corps. I feel that the GAA should explore the DCA community. Where we could start a "weekend Corps" where one can feel free to go to whatever show they choose. Or just do weekend shows. Another option would be DCA mini Corps. Have you seen the list of Corps who will be competing this year? it would b an honor to have the Glassmen name announced along with those other great names in Drum Corps history. Another option would be sound sport and or drum battle. There is one more option. The GAA could choose and do nothing and just be a name.
  2. I tried to raise the red flag about this awhile back. However, I was slammed by alum, bod members and the forum police who try to shout down people on what can and can not be said on these boards. (not the mods.) IMHO the BOD was indeed a rubber stamp for Brian and he had complete control of the BOD. 1 1/2 years before our 50th I received 2 phone calls, one from an ex board and one from (at the time) current board member telling me how dire the Glassmen finances were. I asked if the Glassmen were going to field a Corps for our 50th? I was told that by all rights they should not be fielding a Corps that year let alone our 50th. I was also told, do you really think Brian would let the Corps fold on our 50th under his watch?
  3. Hello all, I have not posted on here in a long time... And after reading every post in this thread I am reminded why I have not not posted in a long time...If one is not violating any DCP guidelines one can say what they want in this open forum...Enough of the Glassmen Police who just because one disagrees with you,one try's and shout them up..How dare you...Kickbrass you claim you can get 100 alumni to agree with you...Really, I wish you could then we could have an alumni association..Wait a minute we do not have one because we can not get that many alumni involved ask yourself kickbrass why is that? And then you go on and say, well you only marched one year so your voice is not as loud as one marching more then one year. REALLY, so all the rook outs voice mean nothing....How about those who marched in 75 and could not march the next year because the Glassmen went to sleep for a handful of years? One has to be kidding themselves if our 50th year show was a tribute to the ones who made the Glassmen who they are today...I will speak for the vast majority of the Alumni when I say placement means nothing....But our 50th year show, proved my point in how the Glassmen org, views the alumni...Ask yourself why is there not more alumni involvement? And I do indeed hope my words p%^s some alumni off so they will get involved...All I am saying is find the root cause in why the Alumni is not more involved and then fix it....I do however know the root cause......
  4. The only advice that I have ever given to the Glassmen was reconnect with their Alumni so you are indeed right, they do not want to heed my advice.....The only other thing that I have given them was lots money and my time..Have you done the same? DrillmanSop06 it is clear that you only like to talk down to people and have nothing valid to offer to the conversion...You are just a troll that does not know what you are talking about......
  5. No threat at all..... Just stating fact.....No one barred me I left the group because I got tired arguing over our history when all they had was "I was there so I know what I am talking about" what they forgot was they were only marching members and I had the paperwork and fact to back up what I was saying...... Once I proved that, nothing else was said.....The Alumni who may have talked bad about me better have their facts straight....And it is clear they do not....As you better choose your words wisely....Because I have the facts and all you have is hear say.....From this day forward be very, very careful if you or others want to attack me....And if DCP does not stop these unfounded personal attacks which goes against their policy's they may find themselves liable also......
  6. You need to b very careful in what you say you have come very close in crossing the line..... slanders; slandered; slander·ing [+ obj] : to make a false spoken statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone
  7. #### brother I find myself in agreement with you lol lol.....IMHO if Glassmen Alumni were on staff in a high position our 50th ann. show would have been different.....Everyone seen how much money Corps have made do to their Ann. from their Alum... and how much respect they showed to their past...Cavs, Cadets, and the Scouts come to mind....That did not happen with the Glassmen with their 50th ann show....I blame Sal and Brian for this disrespect to our history.....Not even a nod to our past and it showed in the donations from the Alumni.....Mr Poulan is a good addition to the Glassmen...However he is not an Alum...What connection does he have with the Glassmen Family? There is so much untapped talent within the Glassmen Family it is unreal....I agree one tends to surround themselves with yes men....And in the Glassmen case that has failed....
  8. What I can tell you is the fact that I have lost count on how many Alum head band depts. over the US....I agree techs are under rated....However I have not heard of a tech that moved up in the Glassmen Org....If there is a Glassmen Alum tech that has moved up in the ranks in the Glassmen Please let me know....
  9. indeed there were past members as techs....But lets get real...they were techs only....As far as Alum from the past on staff...When was that? By the way Guardling I do indeed like to talk to you....We may not see eye to eye on some issues....I do respect you....
  10. I agree with you 100%......Our Activity will never find the next Zingali ect. unless they r given a chance....Someone had to take a chance on him and others.....I agree Mr. Paulan is a good addition to the Glassmen....However he is just one piece of the puzzle....It is unfair to put all this pressure on his shoulders to right the ship....The only way an instructor will have a vested interest in the Glassmen is if they are Alumni...What is so wrong in giving an Glassmen Alum a chance? I am so over the fact that Brian has not made an honest attempt in hiring Glassmen Alumni.....I do not know the answer to this question,so if one does please let me know.....How many Glassmen Alumni are on staff as of today?
  11. My brother and I had no choice....Our Mom made us join to get us off the street...I was 13 my brother was 12....
  12. Mike, why not team up with the AL once again....For example their national convention was held in Minn....this year...why could not DCI and the AL get together and hold DCI Finals at their convention... Or convince them to hold their national convention in Indy the same time DCI holds their Finals here....Just saying......
  13. Wrtv 6 started airing promos for DCI one month before the Finals.....This has not been done before since DCI came to Indy....They even said that the were proud sponsors of DCI Finals and the Arts parade...However at no time did they mention that the $10.00 deal was for Indiana residences only... They did mention that tickets were as low as $10.00....This must have been done at the parade about the $10.00 deal for Indiana residence .....
  14. True story.......The Glassmen came in 5th place at the first Class A DCI Finals in 1975....After Finals our Corps Dir. Left to go back home because he was very, very sick....He only stayed as long as he did because he wanted to see us through Finals at serious risk to his health......After he went home the rest of the staff left except one....He was a 22 year old equipment manager....He was given $500.00 to get us home from Philly to Toledo....This money was for gas only....Back in the day for the most part we had to find ways to feed ourselves......While standing in line to check out of the Motel room he over heard some staff members from SCV talking about how one of their buses broke down and how were they going to get some of the kids back to Caliy.....Without batting an eye he told them they could ride with us back home and then take them Chicago where they could catch a flight home, the offer was accepted.....So now he had the added responsibility of not only getting us home but now members from another Corps....Our yellow buses made it to home and Chicago...On the way back from Chicago our yellow school buses broke down.....Without being asked the SCV BoD sent money to help cover the cost... 75 was the first year the Glassmen had an extended tour...Up until that point we were for the most part a weekend only Corps....We took off on a 2 week tour and did not fully recover.....We were getting down the road on our placement money...BITD one was not guaranteed any money......It all depended on where the Corps finished....No matter who was at the Show..... In 1976 we tried to field a Corps but it did not work out....I found out 30 years latter one of the main reasons was financial.......93% give or take of the Corps members did not pay their dues and it was $75.00 a year, we had 110 members.....And our bingo game was getting ripped off......Soooooo, the Glassmen had no choice but to go inactive....In 79 a group of Alumni, parents, and friends of the Glassmen got together and decided to bring back the Glassmen.....The first thing they did was to get their financial house in order....Then they put out word for those who were still able to march and those who have not marched before to come back....The rest as they say is history... Maybe just maybe Revo needs to take a breath, relax and get their finical house in order for this great Corps to move forward..... If it takes a year or two so be it.....If history is any indication, once Revo comes back they will be as strong or stronger then they once were...... DRUMDAD..........You did nothing wrong in creating this thread...despite what some of the forum police would have you believe....(Forum Police-- those who have taken upon themselves to try and dictate what can and can not be posted)Trust me,If you would have the Mods would shut this thread down in a heart beat.....Thank you for not backing down even when they tried to get this thread shut down....
  15. I agree one would not walk into the middle of the mall and start yelling about the manager....However one would A) create a video and it may go viral....B)Create a FB page talking about how bad they were treated...C) post something on their FB page to let all their friends know how bad they were treated....D) going on the stores website or FB page and write a nasty review.....A great example of this happening that comes to mind, was what the soldiers did when they were getting charged an arm and a leg for extra baggage...Do you really think their issue would of been resolved as fast as it did if they kept it private and went to the owners of Delta? In fact because of what they did all airlines changed their policy...... I am encouraged to see more and more people standing up to some of these poster who try to shout one down our try to intimidate one because they do not agree with one's point of view....Over the years some of these same poster's have asked for threads to b shut down or have said that these forums are not the place to post this or that...just Because one has an higher post count then others does not mean your voice should b louder....Or have the right to declare what can and can not b said on these forums..... What is even more disturbing to me...Is that some of these people who are advocating censorship on these boards claim to b past Corps members...Which means to me they were at one time or still are artiest....Censorship is the artiest worst enemy....... Did any of you get on these boards and complain when the G7 power point was leaked here on DCP? NO, why, because most agreed it was the right thing to do. Where was the outcry of people saying that this was not the place of that to b leaked?....One may disagree 100% with what or how I say things, at least I am not a hypocrite....
  16. WOW JUST WOW.....Your post drips with irony considering you support BAC the birth place of some people who were very strong advocates of free speech and some who even gave their lives for the right for one to have free speech....... Right, wrong. or indifferent, here is my interpretation of your post.... You make some assumption that is very untrue...And I am sure you know the old saying about one who assumes...... So here is the rest of the story...$.02 to Paul Harvey.... You assumed that some of the Alumni did not email Brian.....In fact if you would of read all the post you would of seen an Alum who did in fact email Brian not to B*&ch but to offer his help....And to this day has received no reply back....Because you brought this up....At the beginning of the season I emailed a BoD member asking if Brian was still the Corps Dir. because I along with other Alum emailed Brian not to B*&ch but to offer help in our 50th Ann. and received no reply back....... You clam there were statements made that slammed or came close to slamming CMM's....I challenge you to find a statement from any Glassmen Alumni in both Glassmen threads that even came close to crossing that line...If you can not produce the post then IMHO you own the Glassmen Family an apology for making false and misleading statements...Which by the way goes against DCP guidelines..... You assumed that most of the grievances aired on DCP was because of the placement of the Glassmen...I challenge you to go back and look at the dates on both Glassmen threads and look at the dates of the post...You will find out that most of the issues were raised at a time when the Glassmen had momentum and was moving up in the standings....Not after we knew for sure they were going to place out of Finals.... The issues that have been raised this year have been festering for years...However you are an outsider trying to look in...The catalyst and what makes this year different then in previous years was how the Glassmen handled our 50th Ann....And more and more Alum are speaking out for the first time in public not in private any more..... I will concede that DCP should not be the first option when one wants to talk about their Corps issues....However if all forms of communication between the Alumni and the front office for the most part has been eliminated or censored and one cares about the direction of their Corps then DCP is indeed an valid option...Even though you may disagree. I am so glad that DCP is more tolerant of free speech then it seems you are as long as the post stay within the DCP guidelines..... Finally for you to even hint that some of us who posted and aired some of the issues that are hindering the Glassmen family just set behind the computer and do nothing for the Corps is very insulting....You have no clue how much time, money and resources we have donated to the Glassmen over the years....Once again you assumed and once again you are so wrong in your assessment of the Alumni who posted in both of the Glassmen threads..........
  17. Gbass......Shown me one post in this thread and the other Glassmen thread where I r others have said anything neg. about the CMM's.....In fact if u take the time to look you will even see where I even defended the CMM's....in one of my post.....If you think that the reason people are coming put of the woodwork saying these things because the Glassmen finished out of Finals you and others who are saying these things could not b further from the truth....In the early part of the 2000's an alum created an yahoo group page.... as this group started getting bigger and more active....Brian convinced us to shut down the group and move it to the Glassmen website so we could talk there.....I am 100% convinced the reason this was done was so Brian could control what was being said....Where they could delete post and lock people out from posting.....And this did happen.... To say that this years Show was well received by many of the Alumni is an understatement to say the least.......Thank you to all who have PM and emailed me....it is very clear that some alum have chosen to speak not with words but with donations or lack of...... The design of this years Show and the lack of any real attempt to reengage the Alumni on or 50th have left little to no doubt in some people's mind...This year has erased any doubt about the Glassmen's policy towards the Alumni.....out of sight, out of mind.... To any CMM who may b reading this let me say this.....Contrary to what some may want you to think...NOT ONE AND I MEAN NOT ONE ALUMNI EVER SLAMMED THE CMM'S OR SAID ANYTHING NEG. ABOUT THE CMM'S..... You all marched the hell out of this Show...If this years Class is like the previous Class of Glassmen you all have respect for our History and care about our History.....I know deep down you all wanted to finish in the top 12 on our 50th.... I for one am very proud that you all chose to march with the Glassmen family this year to make sure we still had a Corps for our 50th.....Without you all there would of been no 50th Glassmen Corps on the field this year.... THANK YOU TO ALL THE AGE-OUTS WHO CHOSE TO END THEIR WC EXPERIENCE WITH THE GLASSMEN..... WELCOME TO THE ALUMNI FAMILY.....Indeed there r issues with the Glassmen Org. and the Alumni base....However with your help and prescriptive maybe just maybe we can figure this out that will benefit the Glassmen Family in a positive way and ensure the Glassmen last another 50 years........
  18. For those who have been reading the OC forum for years knew that there would b a 20 point drop once scored on the same sheets...we called this years ago....Why did we know this... because people like me who went against WC Corps BITD had first hand knowledge of what it was like to b scored on the same sheets.....BITD if a Corps competed at the same Show regardless of Class, was scored on the same sheets....this should be done at all Shows today.....
  19. Here is what is so sad....There r a lot of Glassmen alum who read DCP yet this year it seems to me that not many have posted on this thread even though it is our 50th ann... It is clear to me that the people who put together this years show has no respect for our history..If the Glassmen make finals this year that would be great...If the Glassmen do not make finals this year no problem.....There r more alum who have not made finals then who have....The flags may look great today...but too not even give our long history even a small nod in this years show is inexcusable....The Glassmen may have gained a sponsor but the Glassmen have done little if anything to gain the support of the Glassmen Alumni in this, our 50th year....To the people who designed this years Show, you have made it loud and clear that you all could care less about the alumni support....SHAME ON YOU....
  20. There r 3 OC Corps who made the top 25.....and nothing has been said..Just a whisper....Sad, Sad indeed..........
  21. Because I m so over of the disrespect that the OC Class receives from DCI......There r at least 7 Corps Dir. who want the OC to go away.....I was in 1 of the Corps the was at the first DCI Class A/Open Finals in 75...And I do not like the way DCI treats the OC Div....
  22. Looks like at least 2 Corps has made it to semi finals
  23. When it comes to I&E there must b one Competition not separate.. This is BS that they r separate.....Is the WC Corps afraid that someone who is OC more talented?
  24. When OC Corps are at the same Show as WC Corps they must b scored on the same sheets.....STOP THE DISRESPECT TO THE OC CORPS........
