  1. I wish that the OC will b scored on the same sheets through out the season...Unless someone can give a valid reason why the OC can not b scored on the same sheets as WC through out the season....
  2. what is so nice is that nothing has changed over the years when it comes to scoring....BITD when we went against the big boys it was always a 18 to 20 point drop in scores no different then today....
  3. Why r OC and WC I&E separate? Why do they not compete together?
  4. I m so glad they r being scored on the same sheets as WC
  5. the live blog on DCI is good if one is not at the show
  6. just said Music City just received the first standing O of the day
  7. This sounds like a really good time.....Thank You Crown for doing this for all the Drum Corps Fans........
  8. All TV stations in the Indy area are reporting that there will be no rain for the next 72 hours, highs in the lower to mid 80's and a 60% chance of rain for Sat.
  9. Very good last night....The spread is what I m use to seeing....I seen some post that said after the 1.6 spread the other night that there was no way the Glassmen could come back from that.......All I can say is......put the forks away......we r not done yet..... It took a min....but it seems to me from viewing the recaps that the guard has figured it out..... Another tie with the Troopers.....I m to lazy to look but I think this may b the 2nd or 3rd tie....... BITD one of the Glassmen Alum was the Troopers Guard instructor....He was the one who designed the Troopers Statue......
  10. I for one am very glad that the Glassmen are a young Corps.....After all this is a "youth activity" When I came back to this Activity in 04 every year to the present I have heard that the Glassmen is a young Corps...What is so great about this is that even though the Glassmen are almost always considered a young Corps they still make finals....And I do hope the Glassmen keep on fielding a young Corps.......
  11. It would be a mistake to blame the low scores in the horn line right now on the equipment and nothing else.....I remember last year how the people were talking about how loud the Glassmen horn line was and I do believe they were Dynasty horns.....True BD did play on Dynasty horns for sometime....And people did not say their horn line sucked.....However people were talking about how little they played on the field....Maybe that is the trick in playing Dynasty horns.....The less one plays the better the Dynasty horns sounds.....
  12. It is surprising to me that HOF Fran Williams said this about the horns, and yet the Glassmen are still playing on them......
  13. Looking at last nights scores it is clear that SOA was on last night and the Glassmen had an off night....The spread was bigger then I have seen over the weeks.....Tonight is another night....Let's see what the spread will be tonight...... Looking over the recaps from last night a couple of things comes to mind..... The drum line is doing real well...They r indeed holding their own.... The guard is improving everyday..... The horn line is not doing so well........I hope something can b figured out soon so that they can show improvement.....Maybe using Dynasty horns r indeed an issue....However there is nothing that can b done to change the horns before Semi's.....There has to b something good about this horn....If there is, I would hope that the staff would exploit the positives and minimize the negatives in using the Dynasty horns whatever they may be.
  14. Why do people who agree with A&E keep calling those who do not agree with A&E anti-A&E....If one is going to put a label on us I would like to be labeled PRO-Acoustics...It would be just as easy to call those who like A&E in Drum Corps as Anti-Acoustics....
  15. BITD when we pulled up to a Show site we would have all the windows down in our yellow buses and we would be singing at the top of our lungs........WE R THE GLASSMEN,THE MIGHTY, MIGHTY GLASSMEN, EVERY WHERE WE GO PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW,WHO WE ARE, SO WE TELL THEM....WE R THE GLASSMEN,THE MIGHTY,MIGHTY GLASSMEN..........
  16. That is music to my ears.... I just seen the next 2 days Shows.....Tonight we go head to head with SOA and tomorrow we go head to head with the Troopers and SOA....Should be really interesting the next couple of days......
  17. What a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, did I say GREAT, battle for 12th.....IMHO the Show is won or lost on the practice field....It is clear that the CMM's r doing what it takes in this hot weather to make sure they r in position to take the 12th spot on our 50th. Noting has ever come easy for the Glassmen Family, however that never stopped us from reaching our goal for that year.....This year Corps have that same fire, and pride in being a Glassmen just like the young kids in 1964 when the Glassmen won their first Show.... Dean
  18. Was just watching Judge Judy and the commercial was about DCI Finals which will be sponsored by WRTV 6 as will as the 1st annual Arts Parade.....This is great that they r starting to run promos already.....The Promo was very well done...My guess would be that there will be good coverage of the Finals and the parade this year.....
  19. Thank you for your kind words and words of encouragement.....You may or may not be aware that Brian is an Cadets Alum....And I called him out on this issue.....Maybe that is the reason the forums were shut down I said that all he is doing in marking time here in the Glassmen waiting for the time Hop leaves and he will go there. I have made peace with Brian about that comment and others that I have made as I was handing him a $100.00 card.... One of the greatest war heroes in our history IMHO was a Native American that went by the name of Chef Joseph....As the army was closing in on him he is quoted as saying " As sure as the sun rises and sets, I will fight no more forever" This is how I feel right now....The 2011 Show is proof that Brian has no respect for the Glassmen history and traditions....Not even a nod in encore....
  20. The Glassmen r 5013c.....We would like to have the Alumni Association 5013c..... Guardling We could indeed use another name....In fact I believe the name that was chosen was the Glassmen Alumni and Family Association or it may have been the Glassmen Family and Alumni Association.....one of the two...In fact some Alum were even going to pay all cost in making this happen......However once word got back to the front office....they were told that we were not allowed to use Glassmen......And I did ask Brian why would they do this..He danced around the question so I did not press the issue.....My question is why would Brian not what this to happen? Why is it so wrong in what we have tried to do? This is our 50th year in this Activity....One would think that the Glassmen Org. would of done everything they could to reengage the Alumni this year of all years our 50th.....This would of been a GOLDEN opp...However they dropped the ball big time...I asked the Glassmen org. to wipe the slate clean and write an open letter to all the Alumni and mend the fences so we all can move forward together....This was not done...The Glassmen front office have forgotten that in 1979 a group of Alumni setting in each others living rooms decided to bring back the Glassmen...If it were not for those Alum there would be no Glassmen today. The lack of Alumni support is a big issue...I have said for years that the missing piece of the puzzle within the Glassmen is the lack of Alumni involvement....For those Alum who have slammed me, told me I lost all credibility, and wanted me to remove everything in my sig. on DCP because I do not support the Glassmen Please keep reading. Because of the nature of the Activity we have Alumni in just about every state and all over the world. The trick was to find a way to communicate and to engage as many Alumni as one could...The solution was to create a main Alumni Association located in the Maumee/ Toledo area....Then one would create regional Alumni Associations under the umbrella of the Main one....Each one would hold their own meetings, fundraising, elect officers ect. Then once or twice a year the officers or whoever wanted to come would join the main Alumni meeting held in Maumee....They would hold mini reunions at a Glassmen Show in their region...If one wanted to they could donate their time or money...maybe even feed the Corps or give the food crew a break and help serve and or cook for the Glassmen..Or they could just hang out with each other set together at a Show and let the CMM know that no matter where they r at there is strong Alumni support....We tried this some years back at the BOA Champs. in Indy....The Glassmen had a booth there so we decided to meet at a bar in Indy owned by an Alum...I was very surprised by the turn out, Brian even came....As did some CMM at the time and some parents.... I once asked the Glassmen to create a sing up sheet that would allow the Alum to sign up at practice or a Show when they r out on the road....they would create a time and place for the Glassmen Alum to meet and great each other...This did not happen...... I am a firm believer that one can never over communicate...However the Glassmen have a need to know policy....Which means 99% of the people do not need to know. The Glassmen website previous to the current was created 100% by Alumni who understood the importance of communicating to Alumni, Family and Fans. That is why there was a forum section and an feature that allowed people to insistent message and talk to each other in real time. And this was also intended to allow alumni meetings to happen in real time....Which none of the above is present on the current Website...... Glassmen Alumni Drum - This Idea came about when Alumni wanted to honor the Glassmen Alumni and Family that have passed...After many ideas were floated this is the one that almost to a person was agreed upon....What would happen is that those that have passed and those that will pass your name would be engraved on a brass plate that would then be attached to the side of the 1965 Glassmen snare drum.....This drum would the be put by the DM stand during our home Show and then moved onto the field when we all sing the Glassmen Corps song together....... I even had members of that years Corps to clean the head and drum....From that day forward nothing more happened.... Because of this and the the disrespect that Brian showed the Williams Family I stopped being involved with the Glassmen like I was previous to this disrespect. I now only give them a $100.00 here and there.....And very little of my time. I was shocked to see a pic. of the Alumni and the Corps together singing the Corps song at this years home show, our 50th ann..... They say a picture speaks a thousands words....and that picture speaks volumes.....Not to long ago when the Alumni came on the field I made sure that the Alumni were mixed in with the CMM...However the pic that I seen of this year our 50th, showed the Alumni in back of the CMM with a big gap in between the two....That is unacceptable to me....This just goes to show the disconnect between the Alumni and the Glassmen Org... And it starts at the top..... For those who have asked me to delete my sig. or call me out for not supporting the Glassmen....You have no clue the time, money, paper products, my own art that I have donated to the Glassmen.....Here is just a hint of what my little part in the Glassmen has been after I came back to this activity in 2004...The Glassmen were housed in Columbus Indiana, I asked a church to feed the Corps for one meal and they did and then donated food to the Glassmen....
  21. WOW.....PLEASE show me where I or any other Alum have said anything that you have implied in your last paragraph..... Why would you even say anything like that? As far as I know you are the only one who has said those things.... For you to even say those things is just so wrong. The only reason we even talked about being a 5013c is because we figured people would give more money if it was a tax right off.....There is no hidden or evil agendas in asking for 5013c. It is clear that you have no idea that there are Corps that have 5013c Alumni Associations.... Why don't you make up words to slam those Associations? Why is it so right for them to do it and yet it is wrong for us to have the same thing? Plus having an Alumni Association is a lot more then just raising money. For example: It could do more in reengaging the Alumni then the front office could ever think of.. And we have the right to ask for 5013c with the Glassmen name in it.... After all we are Glassmen Alum...
  22. Mike, Thank you....Very well said and spot on. 05 Show - Frank had a very strong hand in making this happen....I remember Frank encouraging the members to play and to feel this show with their souls in order to pull this Show off....And they did just that...I remember being told that the average age of the horn line was around 17.8 years old or something near that number...The Glassmen were one of the very few if not the only WC Corps who were unplugged that year...I also thought that they would of built upon the buzz and momentum this show created....However they did indeed zagged. I agree with your assessment of what BK and Blue have done with their Shows....However there must be a willingness to make that kind of change happen.... One must question if that willingness is present in the Glassmen Org... Someone talked about the recruiting area that the Glassmen are faced with considering that there r a handful of top 10 Corps near their area.....This is nothing new...In fact it would of been a bigger issue BITD when there were more Corps in the Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Ill.area... I may have rose colored glasses on but I refuse to believe that the lack of talented people that come to the Glassmen is an issue.....The Glassmen have proven over the years that they will preform the Hell out of any show that is given to them...No matter if it is with 49 or 149 members.....this year is no exception....
  23. 1992 Freelancers 84.00 Glassmen 83.900 The Alum who marched that Show still to this day talk about how much that hurt not making finals.....
  24. I like what you are saying but you forgot one important point....The Glassmen are 50 years old, the music you talk about is recent history in the big picture of our history.... I encourage you to go back to corpsrep and look at all the different kinds of music that have been played over the years by the Glassmen....You may be surprised..... As far as the triangle goes...once again that symbol is recent history...What makes you think that the 2011 Glassmen are not sticking with the Glassmen identity? The 2011 Glassmen are creating their own identity just like the 01,91,81,71 and 61 Glassmen created their own identity......Many of the Alum have no issue with this....However we do have an issue being called the "boring" Corps...It's just plain disrespectful to a Corps who have been around for 50 years..... Let me talk about placement if I may..... First let me say that one would be very naive to think that placement on finals night does not effect a Corps money, recruitment sponsorship, ect. It does, there is no getting around that..... That being said....almost to a person in the Glassmen Family, the placement of the Glassmen at finals night is not ones first priority...It is not an issue.....The first priority is making sure the CMM are having an Experience of a Life Time....There really is no close second....What is an issue is that for some reason the Glassmen are stagnate at the moment. I am not talking about this years Show....we have just been treading water for awhile now...and it seems like little to nothing is being done to get the Glassmen out of this stagnation mode.... Doing the same old, same old and trying to get different results is just not working. Aside--The Glassmen as a whole have not done a very good job passing our history and traditions down to the next generation....This without questions needs fixed also....
