  1. Agreed! I don't get BD winning either. Cadets or Crown should have won based on drill difficulty alone...Cadets with the edge IMO. Cavies were cool as well...just a bit more dirty than usual.
  2. Sal was there for 3 years, right? Someone was aware of the salaries....board of directors, etc....right? So I guess I don't get the folding because of the salaries thing...which may be real...and, if so....something should have been done in year one...and not year 3...like make more money, get more donations, fix the website so people can purchase Scouts stuff.... I hope your parents approve! I was at the rehearsal on Friday...and I was not disappointed...at least with the horns and drums...they are certainly on their way up. Guard looked improved...but not to the judge's liking, that's for certain. So, with that...I feel the Scouts will be just fine...they just need better stuff for guys like you to work with...better drill and arranging would be a good place to start. Next year you will be back in finals!
  3. The Scouts' website is in need of some serious help....like copying the Blue Devils' site. Great way to earn some extra money as well...could sell audio clips, etc. The fact that the site gets limited hits is troubling as well...certainly not good for recruiting.
  4. I couldn't agree more! I saw them practice today...and the talent is there. I hope they take off running...right now...for next year....no time better than the present!
  5. How do the Scouts manage to drop almost a point after having 3 rehearsal days?
  6. Ranks right up there with a White Sox perfect no hitter!
  7. I am cool with that...but I was just expressing an idea/thought....not meant to be a major issue. There was another post stating something similar...that the 3rd drum break didn't seem to fit and or make sense...and I agree. So my suggestion was to simply remove it. But, with that, I am not the Scouts staff so I don't have any say so....just an opinion from a fan that hopes they can make up 2+ points in the next 3 weeks...which I certainly think they can do.
  8. Thank you for your thoughtful insight. No, this thread is not just for friends and family. This is Drum Corps Planet...not Drum Corps Friends and Family No...my comments were not rants...but thank you for putting that in CAPs for me. I was just expressing a thought...a wish, perhaps...knowing full well that the staff of the Scouts will pay little to no attention. I will, in fact, man up and send this directly to the Scouts...again, not that it will matter...but I might...just as a fan with a thought. I have not written for a few top twelve corps...so does that mean you can order me around, call me dumb, tell me to man up, call a simple thought B.S? Keep your arrogance to yourself, thank you....and the fact that you wrote for top twelve corps does little to impress me...but thank you, again, for making sure you made mention of that initially and at the bottom near your signature line. To reiterate...I just made a comment, request, desire, whatever...I did not call anyone in the Scouts names, I did not question their sexual prowess, I did not call their show B.S. I am just a long time fan that made a comment...and I certainly don't think I deserve this level of angst...or any angst, for that matter.
  9. Like I suggested before...it needs to be removed...as it seems like it was just thrown in between horn parts. Again...it would allow for more time at the end of the show...hell, even a park and blow would be cool...ala 1980!
  10. Oh...Scouts, if you are watching...please remove drum break number 3...about 9 or so minutes into the show. It is redundant and it totally gets in the way of the dark vibe at the beginning of that part of the show. Take the drums out and keep the same horn parts...so nothing lost. This will give you upwards of 6 measures to play with at the end of the show...which builds and builds (sounds like a past Phantom Regiment chord progression)...but goes nowhere fast. ditch the drum part...add some horn speed and volume to the end...maybe a fleur. IMO...this gets you a quick point of more.
  11. Not to gripe...but constantly biting at the heals of 12th place is not...nor should it be...a Madison expectation.
  12. The Scouts could play Malaguena every year as far as I am concerned! And...they would probably stand a yearly chance at making finals!
  13. So this tells me that....3 years in...the instructional staff needs a change...specifically in the area of marching and technique. I don't think there has been much, if any, improvement in that area. If they march this show clean...and they stop teasing us with volume...just to go soft and/or into some inane percussion break...they would make finals easily. You give this show to Cavies, BD, etc., they would at worst be finals-bound.
  14. Drill is terrific? They need to take more chances and speed things up a little...then I might agree. If there is politics in drum corps...then Troopers are in!
  15. You should also try Harry and Izzy's...which is owned by the St. Elmo's folks....a bit more youthful than St. Elmo's with similar food. IMO...go a little north and east and either hit Broadripple or the Keystone Mall area. There are a boatload of places up there. Keystone is probably a 15 minute poke from downtown Indy...Places like TGI Fridays, PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, Sullivan's Steak House, Flemming's Steak House, Peterson's Steak House, etc. There is a sushi place up there as well...I cannot remember the name.
  16. So....what do they do to to fix the ensemble problem? Is is the pants? the messy colorguard? Poor marching? All of the above? So...what can they do in a quick hurry to make up 2 points?
  17. I am still not getting how Troopers are over Scouts by 2...that just doesn't make sense to me....and only 5 over Pioneer? I am not down with that.
  18. I will shoot you an email in the next day or two. Thanks for the email.
