  1. Glad to hear the Brigs are stil PERFORMING!
  2. Like I said, I very much appreciated ES gesture and respect for the uniformed services and our nation. I know the corps and honor guard meant no disrespect. It was something that bugged me in the moment for which I soon after started the thread (#### iPhone and ready-access internet).
  3. Since I started this thread, I'll explain. I did not take issue with ES use of uniformed personnel in their show. My question stemmed from retreat and the folks in uniform saluting the drumline as it returned to the block. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way in the moment. It runs contrary to military customs and courtesies where only the Colors and officers of higher rank are saluted. The proper thing to do would have been to call the honor guard to attention. They also were positioned in front of the Colors which I also found odd. Thanks for your support.
  4. The Wayne Valley High School Marching Band of Wayne, NJ is looking for an individual to design and instruct a small, relatively novice guard for the coming season. Good stipend and a chance to help rebuild a great guard program. Ideal candidate should be creative with instructional and corps and/or indoor experience. Please email any inquiries to: Nicholas Greeson, Director ngreeson@wayneschools.com
  5. The Wayne Valley HS Marching Band in Wayne, NJ is searching for two percussion instructors for the 2009 season. Performance backgrounds in battery and keyboards preferred. Great opportunity for someone looking to get in to teaching. Interested parties, please email ngreeson@wayneschools.com
  6. Me too Tom. I'll never forget rehearsing at Buc Field late in the season and coming out of the blue room at the end of an ensemble run of the Bartok. I had no idea we were that friekin' LOUD!!!
  7. Apology not necessary. It's our corps family's big night and it was so nice to see a great turnout for the alumni corps. From my vantage point on the 30 you guys were great in throwing down the Old Bucs' standards (just wish I could of heard Sylvia!) From a young Buc, I could be nothing but proud of our alumni!
  8. Joe was one of the first people to welcome me to the hornline in my Bucs rookie year in 2000. This is a fitting tribute to a fine young man whom was loved by those whom he worked and performed with.
  9. darn it<**>, I had a 10-footer with some sweet springboard action... ^0^
  10. I recieved my DVD today, one corps-full package. Price was good. Video and audio were quite good with the exception of a few one-second 'pulls' in the video. The tech stuff in terms of menus, view options (or lack thereof) was disappointing. Decent value for the price paid
  11. Thank God we got the tenth of a point itch scratched this year!
  12. drip...drip... Can you hear it? drip...drip... Its the sound of personal injury lawyers salavating
  13. Due to the fact that my interest and exposure to drum corps came after high school, I never marched juniors, but I greatly appreciate how hard they work, and the product they put on the field. They bring the activity to new levels (albeit in the case of amps and mic'd vocals a little too much). There are chips on both shoulders. Even watching a DCI broadcast, for the age-outs it is portrayed that drum corps is over (a well-hashed over fact in these forums) There is some elitism from some people who marched/teach DCI, but there is elitism among all musicians. Some seniors are pretty bitter towards DCI and how it has 'ruined' drum corps as we know it. Jazz guys, dont some hard-core classical people drive you up a wall? Vice-Versa? As long as there is understanding and respect for what everybody does in music, thats all that matters.
  14. 2005 was pretty friekin' sweet [bias on]. 2004, though I didnt march and only attended the Hershey show, was very close all the way to the end. I am sorry I didnt see ES that year to have a better picture.
  15. Ay Me Buccaneers! (Of Reading, PA) Mellophone
  16. I will always have utmost respect for those who can move and play on such an unforgiving mouthpiece!
  17. You guys think you could coax Steve Melillo into writing a book??
  18. Which is really ironic since the sheep on the trumpet line shirt is also playing left-handed
  19. I've always thought DCA's site was top notch, especially when scores were put into .pdf instead of excel format. That being said.. Sweet Intro - Bold Statement! - Hip Hop? <**> Maybe start with the hiphop to grab attention and segue into the Barber hit (i'm not biased or anything)
  20. Jimmy is our Captain, and he and a few other extremely dedicated men and women are the reason we are where we are. Thank You Jimmy!! p.s. he's still a kickin' mello player! edit.. wow i cant speel
