So when you read the topic title "Favorite 90's Champion", informing you that you'd only be selecting from shows performed in the 90's, you still clicked on the link and read this thread because.... why, exactly?

LOL

1991 Star of Indiana. Was there ever a better DCI Champion?

-1975 Madison Scouts

-1976 and 1979 Concord Blue Devils

-1984 Garfield Cadets

-1989 Santa Clara Vanguard

-1996 Phantom Regiment

-2002 Rosemont Cavaliers

But, that's just one band kid's opinion :-)

Comes down to two once again. 1996 Phantom and 1999 SCV.

Even though both of those years were ties, I can't have one.

SCV 1999. Unbelievable show!

BTW, best non-champion of the 90's

1995 Madison Scouts - on your feet from beginning to end.

Wow...'96 Phantom is taking '96 BD to the cleaners.

Kinda makes you wonder why the judges had such a tough time choosing which show they liked best.

I voted for 1996 Regiment.

Close seconds are 1999 SCV, 1994 Devils and 1993 Star  .

You almost stole my post... but for me it was 99 SCV, followed closely by 96 Phantom, (could have been followed closely by 93 Star), followed closely by 94 Devils.

Speaking of 96 Phantom, this was the only show that I never saw live or on video until I watched 1996 from my legacy dvd collection last week.

To anyone who was a part of 96 Phantom I would just like to say:

:doh::lol::lol::angry::doh::lol::doh:

and Thank You very much!

Actually, it only explains why Phantom was able to tie at all. Like in '99, the Blue Devils had the far cleaner show, it took some finals night magic and a healthy dose of emotion for anyone to match them.

BTW, I voted Vanguard '99, and yeah BD clearly had the cleaner show that year.

The 90s were THE era of Drum Corps.

1.) Amazing Performances

2.) Unheard of Technical Accomplishment

3.) Experimentation to the point of shows still being outstanding (not bashing today's corps, but they seem to just keep stuff in that fails to work.)

4.) G BUGLE Hornlines that sound VERY MUCH better and more spectacular then any this decade.

This is tough. None of these shows stood out head and shoulders above the other championship shows. I picked Star 91, but 94 Devs and 95 Cavies are very good as well. I think the high votes for Phantom 96 and SCV 99 are sentimental.
