paulcbc
I know that the Muchachos were very strong in 75 and a Contender for the DCI Title. They were removed from the Finals due to marching over age members. They did perform in Prelims. Does anyone know what that Prelim Score was, and if they had made Finals how close they were to Madison and the Title????????????? DCIHasBeen
Their prelims score remains the biggest secret of the DCI era. The sheets were destroyed. According to Don Pesceone, the sheets went directly to Bob Briske, the DCI Contest Coordinator, who handed the sheets directly to Pesceone. He kept then in his pocket until they were destroyed when the DQ was finalized. They were never tallied. One of the two biggest "woulda', shoulda', coulda'" questions of the '70s ... KeithHall
The end of a great drum corps. Sadly, many corps were marching overage members for years before and even after. But had DCI not DQ them maybe that would be around today. "Woulda, shoulda, coulda" I know that one corps was marching overage members in 1976 and they were in top 8. Rocketman
Yet another rehash of a topic that has been discussed incessantly once the season ends. Again, someone please post links to the various threads discussing this issue. Better yet, do the search yourself BEFORE starting a thread. That is the exact story I got from both Don Pesceone and Bob Briske. Neither one even looked at the sheets. The previous weekend, the corps was fourth at the finals of the World Open. Consider the scores from that contest: Blue Devils 91.05, SCV 89.05, 27th Lancers 87.40, Muchachos 86.50. They would have had to make up just over 4.5 points to have won prelims from Worlds, a rumor that refuses to die, and they would have had to do it in six days. Although in '75 it would not be uncommon to see scores fluctuate from week-to-week in terms of points, rather than tenths as is more often the case today. Bottom line, nobody will ever know ... And if it matters that much to anyone now, they seriously need to be moving on. Edited August 31, 2007 by DCIHasBeen

DCIHasBeen
Did Mr. Briske make any "copies" before the actual sheets were distroyed ?? Don't think he was carrying his Ronco Rox-o-matic on the field. This was 1975 and they were still using carbon paper to duplicate the sheets. Also, if I recall the conversation correctly, Don P. said the sheets were sealed in an envelope.
