The Cadets & On Q

Recommended Posts

Coming in the Fall of 2007, Drum Corps International will launch ON Q, and will open an entirely new era of performance education.

ON Q will bring to life products that will unleash maximum performance potential in students and those who teach them.

ON Q will showcase and provide unprecedented access to the world's finest instructional talent and will share boundless expertise from the world's top drum corps.

ON Q will utilize state-of-the-art technologies, live and totally interactive learning experiences, and will celebrate the cultural bond that is the heart and soul of music and performance.

For the very first time, the very best minds in performance education come together with a single, focused initiative, and all in one place—ON Q.

Featured artists from the Blue Devils, Cavaliers, Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Phantom Regiment share the creativity and knowledge and passion that have made these corps and their members champions of the highest order.

ON Q will deliver a curriculum truly worthy of the 21st Century performer, and will push the limits of tomorrow's performance education.

So first off, no disrespect to the corps and instructors participating in this program. However, how can you say "Top Six" and leave out the Cadets??

Who cares about the issues we all have with them..ect ect...bottom line is if ANYONE in DCI is pushing the envelope of creativity and awarness of progression for the activity its The Cadets!

So, what gives?

This is an easy one. Cadets were asked to be a part of OnQ and they politely declined the opportunity.

My guess is that possibly Cadets already do their Music Is Cool clinics and did not want to be included in this. I could be wrong though.

Ok. There was nothing in the clip that you pasted indicating the exact phrase "top six." You might be upset that the Cadets were not in that list, but like Tom Brace said, The Cadets chose not to do this. I know this for a fact. The Cavaliers also opted not to be included in this venture.

Hmm...too bad. One of you said it best, despite any issues anyone has with their on-field stuff, their rehearsal and strategic techniques are obviously at the top of the game and the forefront of the activity's innovation. Missing out.

Kind of like having a football coaching clinic and leaving out Shula, Landry, and Lombardi. Hard to learn to soar with the eagles when you're used to hanging around with the turkeys. Meaning (so nobody misinterprets that): If you want to learn to do what the best are doing, you don't learn it by going to seminars led by no-names. You go to seminars where the best reveal their deepest, darkest secrets.

Actually, I'd kind of like Phantom Regiment to learn some things from Cadets. (Oh, I know THAT'S going to sit well around here.) To be fair, there are a lot of things Yea could learn in reverse. Geez--opportunity for Yea to learn FROM DCI and OnQ--"borrow" from the competition, sort of! (DCI/BOA in Indy, Yea in Allentown--see what I mean?)

Actually, this year it would appear it is the 2nd from the top of the game. :P
