If I didn't live so friggen far away, I'd wanna march The A!

Something about their performance captured my soul...not so much musically (although that was rele kewl!) but visually. Of all of the midseason shows that I got to see, theirs was my favorite. Everyone seemed tuned in to exactly what they needed to do in their marching technique. They looked pretty bad-### in their transitions between sets and that really inspired me because I realized that the final product (in this case, meaning a solid set) isn't worth seeing if the lead-up into it (meaning marching style/technique) is a piece of crap. And after realizing that, I had a higher sense of awareness of what I was doing at ALL times during my field show last year.

If I could I would have voted for Suncoast back in the 80's or VK back in the 80's (what can I say, I'm an 80's kinda gal :) ). But neither are on the list.

I guess I'll have to go for SCV '87.

As far as the why....for Suncoast and SCV...it's all about the mello parts.

For VK, it's the distinct shows they put together.

Peace,

Late 90's SCV for sure, Intense music, drill, visual approach, IMO just some great drum corps.

This was a really hard decision. Ultimately I picked SCV (specifically 83) because that was the first really big corps I saw. It was my rookie year with the Nighthawks and I had never seen a live drum corps show. I saw SCV one night and I was in love.

But there are others I'd like to mention: Spirit 80 (wall of sound!), Cadets 91 (the ABC's of American music was an amazing and under-appreciated show), Troopers 79 (I marched a little later at least), Suncoast any year (way ahead of their time, amazing shows). I could probably mention more, I'm just under-caffeinated right now and have to get going for the morning. Sigh..... nostalgia!
