What's your comments if you have them? Have some fun! I'll guess for finals, at least... I think there will be some very close tiers again: 1. Cavaliers --- 2. Cadets 3. Phantom 4. Blue Devils --- 5. Meaghatron
1) The Cavaliers-IMO, "Samurai" has the feel to be another James Bond or Machine. 2) Blue Devils- I have no idea what their show is. But if their corps is as good as last year, I can't keep them out of the top 2. 3) The Cadets- Had an amazing group last year. While I'm not excited about the show concept, the musical selections are pretty awesome. --------- 4) Carolina Crown- I see them being in at least the top 5. (I'm feeling a little homer-like putting them in 4th). They are always entertaining. 5) Phantom Regiment- I can't put them out of the top 5. They will have wonderful music yet again. 6) SCV- Although not a very captivating show to me last year, Eureka! was a step up from '06. Perhaps they'll move into the top 5.... 7) Bluecoats- Musically, I prefer '06 over '07, but drill-wise I think they are headed in the right direction. Don't see them in the top 6 though. --------- 8) Blue Knights- Their dark shows are great to listen to. They'll stay in the same range they've been lately. 9) Colts- I'm not sure why. I didn't really like last year's show, but they were definitely a great group. 10) Boston Crusaders- I thought '07 was MUCH better than '06. I don't see them moving up (or down) too much. -------- 11) Glassmen- Gitano was pretty good. Their guard was amazing. This year, they get into Finals after a good fight. 12) The Academy- After a hard fought battle with a few other corps, Academy squeaks into Finals. --------- 13) Spirit of JSU- Not sure... this year's show seems like an interesting concept.... 14) Blue Stars- Right in the thick of things up until Semis-night. 15) Madison- I want to put them higher, but I don't know about guard issues... 16) Crossmen- I can see them being anywhere from 12th to 16th.... Then again, I can see a few other corps doing the same... 17) Troopers- They break into Semi-finals. 18) Cascades- Not impressed with last year's show. Not sure how they'll do. 19) Pacific Crest- Read above 20) Mandarins- I'm pretty sure I only saw them once last year.... if that.... 21) Pioneer- I enjoyed last year's show, and I'm looking forward to hearing this year's. But they can't seem to break this last place thing. Once again, the battle will be most interesting for those last couple spots into Finals. Anywhere from 16th to 11th is a toss-up, IMO. I have no idea how things will play out, but I gave it my best guess. I would be happy to see any of them at any of those 6 spots. Although, I would love to see Madison in Finals again. I think the top 7 will have another great year. I'm curious which spots will be more interesting to follow though. Something tells me that the top 3 will be hard to predict (not who will be there, but who will be where). All in all, I'm excited for another drum corps season! Edit: I'm not sure if I missed a corps, so please let me know if I did. Edited February 4, 2008 by i_play_percussion

Tom Brace
OK...I've thought about it for half a day. Then I consulted my crystal ball. I first tested it last week when I sold my Google shares at $800 a share because it said it was going to drop and something about Microsoft and Yahoo. It also helped me buy gold like 5 years ago and also a bunch of copper and we are riding that wave until October of this year at least. So...these predictions are all due to the crystal ball and what it's telling me. I'm in a trance right now. Oh, vioce of the crystal ball...speak to me...oh voice.... 1. Cadets - Like the idea of what their performing. If they match last year's intensity with some selected cleaning they should jump up. Narration won't matter one way or another. 2. Cavaliers - Bruno's first year as leader isn't really like a new guy coming on board. I don't see them skipping a step there. I see the show having incredible potential...much more than last year. 3. Blue Devils - Figured I'd just keep the top 3 the same as every other year. 4. Phantom Regiment - Spatacus could send them higher or lower so I'll stick with last year's placement for now. 5. SCV - How can you beat Eureka from last season. By far, my favorite 2007 show. I thought their 2007 show was going to be called Electrolux, but sadly, no. 6. Bluecoats - Mixing it up in the ring. I think the theme will ultimately hold this show back. 7. Crown - I just see them flipping a place with Bluecoats in my most crystal of crystal balls. OK...pretty mainstream so far...no huge weirdness...until... 8. Academy - sold on a better program than last year...lots of good talented young horses. Where other corps are aging out 35-40 members each year...what did Academy age out after last season...7, maybe 8? 9. Blue Knights - just because that's what the crystal ball told me. 10. Colts - again, blame the crystal ball. 11. Boston Crusaders - see 9 or 10 above. 12. Blue Stars - OK...that was more wierdness right there...did you notice? But, hey I'm guided by the crystal ball. It has me in its power. 13. Glassmen 14. Madison 15. Crossmen 16. Spirit 17. Troopers - lookee who makes semis! 18. Pacific Crest 19. Cascades 20. Mandarins 21. Pioneer Again, this is all because of the handy crystal ball I got at a carnival when I was 7. We'll see how faulty it is in August.
