NY Skyliners PR
The New York Skyliners announced today that they will not field a competitive DCA corps this summer, and that the New York Skyliners Mini-Corps will compete again in Rochester at the 2008 DCA Championships. “While this is a decision no Director ever likes to make, I am nonetheless excited about the progress the current Administration has made in building a sound foundation for the future of the New York Skyliners organization,” remarked Harry T. Eldridge, Executive Director. “We have worked on fixing the fundamental structure of the corps, and developed an Administration that works collaboratively and exhaustively.” The Skyliners plan to expand the Administrative body to support fundraising, grant writing and recruitment efforts. “Equally exciting is the fact that the current Administration, Designers and Instructors have committed to remain with the New York Skyliners as we continue our journey towards building a robust organization that can better meet the needs of today’s competitive drum corps,” said Eldridge. In addition to adding to the Administrative team, the New York Skyliners will further build their 2009 instructional staff with the best talent available. Events scheduled by the New York Skyliners will take place despite today’s news. The First Annual Beefsteak Dinner is scheduled for March 29th – and is on! Ticket sales for this fundraiser have been very brisk, and it is not too late to get your tickets. They have launched other fundraisers and initiatives to drive their long-term development strategy. The New York Skyliners thank our alumni, fans, family, friends, and competitors for their support and interest, and will keep you informed! cabalumnidrummer
As much as it pains us to read this, I can only imagine how painful it was for you to post this, Doreen. My sincere best wishes to you and all of my friends in the Skyliner organization for better times to come. I hope you'll succeed in your efforts to rebuild the corps and get back into the thick of competition in 2009. It is the heat of competition that made Sky and senior their senior corps rivals better, and it's competition that will once again enable the Skyliners to thrive and be a force. All the best!
