Please accept our sincere thank you to all the parents, family, fans, Drum Corps Planet, and friends of Teal Sound for your awesome generosity. We are so very grateful. Now that is what I call a response. Took a matter of a few days and Voila! Problem solved. Sometimes, it takes an incident like this to start a string of very good luck. I hope other corps see what great things DCP can do and I hope when they think that they might not have enough to do a tour for a particular year, that they think twice and just ask. I think a lot of times, we do not know how the corps is doing until we hear that they are going inactive. This note shows the character and class of the Teal Sound organization. They were victimized for a certain amount of money. Not trying to get more than they lost, Randy has a trusted board member post that they have reached the amount that was originally stolen. Thanks to the generosity of this communty they have gotten there. I hope that my donation (made about 5:35) came after they reached the amount stolen so that the few dollars I donated can be used to make their tour even just a little better. They are all class. This board is also all class. Even though there are always arguments about this and that (especially narration) the people of this board know how to unite when the chips are down. Even before Katrina things were bad but we managed to house corps in safe areas and provide some great escorts via police and state troopers that once marched corps. Now, things are bad even in the suburbs that had no or little trouble before.I have been openly saying to everyone who contacts me that they should avoid New Orleans. Things are NOT good here and are getting worse. All too often people will say "if you stick to the tourist areas like the Quarter, you'll be ok". This is NOT true. People really don't understand just how bad things are and will continue to be. There are many areas outside of metro New Orleans that are safe but not here. I don't even go to the local district band directors meetings because of the problems and I don't go anywhere without a gun. I realize this could have happened in Lafayette but I also know they were planning a day in New Orleans. Because of the problems here i suggested they don't stay with me. It breaks my heart what is happening here but nothing shocks me anymore. Donating on behalf of : Bleu Raeders & Southern Rebels I was born and raised in Louisiana, but haven't been back since Katrina. Didn't know things have gotten that bad. I will not take any shots at anybody at UL-L or Lafayette or from anybody else from the Banana Republic until more details of the theft come out. It was probably just your common everyday opportunistic urban thug/criminals. Hey, and for that idiot that shot off about not having anymore shows in Louisiana.
