kevingamin
Switch to a swing mood for, well, In the Mood. Crowd is clapping along. Very receptive audience this morning. This must be better than coffee.
kevingamin
Brass line is pretty tight. OK, the 2nd DM is doing a little swing shuffle along with the color guard. Cute.
kevingamin
A quieter moment now with Moonlight Serenade.
kevingamin
The snares have flipped their drums up and are playing the chains on the bottom with their hands, like guitars. A nice effect, like brushes, but with a visual element.
kevingamin
A ton of stick visuals during the Gene Krupa Theme. Heck, Krupa was a drummer, he'd approve. Tuxedo Junction, taken down tempo with a lot of swing to it.
kevingamin
Sopranos are playing their part using one hand as a mute, doing a do-wah sound. Caravan now. This corps does like to swing and there's nothing wrong with that. Brass trio up front plays the melody. Lots of head bobbing in the snares now as they pick up the tempo to bring the song to a close. kevingamin
Horn line has turned backfield ans is marching again as the corps is now playing Battle Cry of Freedom. I'm guessing this is the color presentation. Yep, honor guard is moving out of the corner towards the center of the field.
kevingamin
OK, four of the snares have turned off their snare chains (don't know what you really call them) so they're basically single tenors for this piece. Horns are maching across the field in two groups, crossing lines as they go in opposite directions. And here comes the honor guard to the front sideline on the 50, DM saluting as she leads them forward.
kevingamin
Now the horn line is setting up on the front side line, snares on the 50, basses and contras behind them. Flags are in front of the side line.
kevingamin
Horns are coming even closer to the stands for San Francisco. Nice mello soloist, but where are the flowers in their hair???
