I want to do I & E for 2009,

So what would you recommend for a contra solo? and how would I be able to get it?

Don't have a tune, but here is some advice that has worked well in the past:

Pick something that you can play extremely well. It is better to play an easier solo well than to do an average job on a virtuoso piece.

If you want to compete to win, find out what previous winners have played. Then pick a solo of a comparable level.

Play dynamically and clean!

Funny you should mention that. Riggie Laus, of Pittsburgh Rocket Fame, and still playing with Steel City Ambassadors at age 83 (i think) who was also at DCA I&E this year with SCA Ensemble.......played Flight of the Bumblebee, for one of his undefeated sop national titles, on a "G" piston slip slide bugle. You can cheat on a 3 valve but....not on a piston slip slide. Truly an amazing man...and a true gentleman. :thumbup:
