BOSMarcher Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 DCA SOUTH already has a Regional Championship Every Year! Heat Wave of Orlando and CorpsVets have dominated it most years. BUT with the Advancement of of Music City, Alliance, Schenandoah, Sun Devils, Gulf Coast Sound ALL looking better and Better EVEY YEAR. That's 5 very strong groups. It looks like others will be added soon also! (Carolina Gold goes North most of the time. But when with a DCA South Show. It makes things even better.) Is that what the show in TN is? We had a meeting after the open house and a ton of really good ideas were flowing back and forth. This is a concept some of us have been talking about doing for a couple years now, it just required the right group at the right time, and I think we've found it. That's the first show for a lot of those groups. Yes, it was in '08. BUT for few years it was held in Orlando area. Then it went to the Atlana area for a few years. (BUT, Only DCA South groups took part.) I did not know that MCL made lite of the DCA South part of things. To me. If MCL wanted to have a mixed DCA & DCI show that is fine, great, wonderful, whatever. BUT they (DCA SOUTH) should KEEP the Championship a Seperate show. To clarify, A DCA-South Region Championship has not been held since 2006 in Atlanta. The Region Corps, at their Fall meeting in 06, decided they wanted to build up their local contests and by moving the last show of the season every year, could not start to build a fan base. Also, loosing a few corps due to member and financial issues in that period of time didn't help with PR,so it was felt that is was more important to BUILD the Region and put an actual "Championship Contest" on hold, How a REGION CHAMPION IS crowned currently is , in sponsorship with YAMAHA Band & Orchestral Division, South East Region, The HIGHEST PLACING Region Open Class and A Class Corps at that years DCA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS is Crowned the DCA-South Region Champions for That Year. !! for 2008 it went to Atlanta Ga....
