Jeff Ream
quick thoughts since i played 1/2 way thru and missed corps: caught the end of the Rebels. much better than last year and i thought the snares really played well. niuce to hear some old faves...for a while they were playing non YR stuff and it left me flat. Sky Alumni....hornline looked bigger than the last few years and some great NYC sound. snareline, led by the Fast One himself kicked my ### as always...i mean really...every drummer under the age of 25 should watch that snareline and see and hear and FEEL what singles should be like. Brass line really sold me on ELKS, more so than any year since maybe 99. i always love Sky, and this year was no different Bucs Alumni....i really havent seen them in a few years as they were always on before us. but what a HUGE improvement...loved hearing some more recent Bucs stuff, and even with sides way off the side, the power and quality was evident. drums also had some really nice moments from what i could tell from the side. Cabs Alumni....can an alumni corps get better when they're already ####### great? yes, and Cabs did. Bottom bass player an animal, and the drumline played extremely well!! Curt, Duke, Steve...all the soloists wow. that warmup they played...oh folks you gotta hear that. they went from loud, to ####### loud to "this hurts and i like it" loud...with quality as for Westshore...felt great from my spot on stage, and i think i have listened to my mp3 of the show 40 time already...i hope everyone else liked it as much as we did!! TennTux
My apologies that this took as long as it did... Because of our schedule Donna and I were not in the Forum to see the Marine D&B Corps and St Joes. My apologies for missing these two great Corps' performences... You'll see (in the wide angle photos) approximately where we were in the Forum. I was asking a lot of my "point and shoot" digital camera when I was using the zoom feature. (All of my photos (of the SIB show) were taken from where we were sitting in the Forum.
