  1. A quick shout out. GREAT show by the Cabs. Did not think it could have been better than Clifton and once again another great show setup etc. The parking, the food, the corps. First class all the way !!! Thanks and Thanks for all of your efforts.
  2. There is no logic in this statement only you assuming. Might still happen, but the surf kids never quit. Meaning anything is possible.
  3. Change is always hard to matter the era of corps. I still have not seen an series of ideas to better the corps activity to rival was has been posted?
  4. The big corps, with big egos could also be making a big mistake. I am sure some old schoolers would enoy some corps staying local on shorter tours who know, maybe back the future in some respects. Do not discount it either, for I am sure some would come out for a show with every corps having a fighting chance to win every night. Those who choose to create a devide might find out the grass not always greener or for long, and once you become a big fish in a smaller pond where do you go? Had to smile about the new coke comment. Just a sidebar truth be told the original version of Coke was made with REAL sugar. Prices on sugar was gettng out of hand and Coke wanted to make a switch but knew the public would go batty. So they came out with the new coke, and also started making the NEW - Original Coke with the new sweetner and stocked it. When back on the market with the so called original brand they were able to move as most focused on the bashing of why they had to change to begin with in the first place while saving millions of dollars on sugar costs, transportation. etc. One has to wonder does the magnificent seven have a back up plan for failure? Its bad enough DCI is the modern day form of Hockey when it comes to finals since there are few corps who are still around in number to begin with. As far as the woodwind comments, its not drum corps.
  5. I feel older when every time I walk into the bathrooms at St Andrews's. Back in the late 70's they seemed so much larger DOH.
  6. Hymm to the last whale was amazing ..... after getting home hit my couch with a thud. Yes that was NOT an earthquake in western PA.
  7. Thank you for posting the video. Really pumped me up. Looking forward to them taking the field, wishing them the very best.
  8. Wonderful to hear - I am sure when they play George B will be smiling above. It would also be great is all the corps on retreat at finals play Danny Boy together too. I hope I hope I hope ....
  9. Yes I was shocked too. The funny think I also remember was the VFW was on randal island no? And you were allowed to march if you were 22 yrs old and Jeff Kivett marched with the Muchachos that day. Garfield was not making finals was one of the those great mysteries just like how the Crossmen did not make finals in 1979 as they were beaten by the Troopers. I will say though the Troopers did rock the stadium in prelims. Did not see the Crossmen at prelims.
  10. Looking for an old school World Open Patch - Saw one one ebay two yrs ago and lost the auction.
  11. I recall a corps called the Woodsiders getting a 3.0 in the late 70's
  12. I remember the royal brigade used to practice in parking lot 17 they had one heck of a horn line. Giants Stadium was nice but kind of fond over both the old roosevelt stadiums, in Jersey City and Union City. Both hosted a Jr and Sr corps show.
  13. I recall watching a video of the US Open and that missing grass patch seems like it could be the same field.
  14. I agree too, because - the Colts were better than the Troopers
  15. I think the Bucc's earned the right to be treated with respect by simply saying it would be interesting to see how they fared with DCI judges. They have had a great run the last few seasons and took the field to be better and entertain with each and every show. Comparing apples and oranges only gets you pointed towards making a fruit salad missing a few nuts. Its the passion of the corps that drives us all. No reason to pull on heart strings there will be no final answer or posting that can real a happy ending. It was good to see the Trooper return to DCI because of their efforts - the same for the Bucc' who earned all of their titles. Today is their day - Enjoy!!
  16. Troopers rocked the house - its a great to see them back. Do not think the Colts did not make finals simply because of hear strings. Congrats to both corps they were amazing and worthy of applause.
  17. Very interesting statement. Do you know if many recent, and or current members marched with both corps?
  18. Three Cheers to the Colts - you should have made finals, but what matters is your performance on the field did reach others. Stay the course.
  19. I am sad to hear of your loss. Thank you for sharing during your time of grief. It is clear he was someone very special.
  20. I agree and think retreats at the regional show level is good for the members and the fans too. It was great spending time and talking drum corps with the current drum corp kids that wow the fans every time they hit the field. It was special sharing a portion of the night with drum corps members watching a little of the old school.
  21. People are nice - as you can see not many posts. Wish DCA's were in Scranton or West Chester.
  22. Robbie No worries we did miss you and your corps members though. We certainly wanted to return the favor for when you hosted us. The stinger event and everyone running your show had a lasting impression. No hard feelings these things can happen, please always remember you are welcome to hang with us. Usually after TOS many head downtown for an after hours event, mark it down for next season.
  23. Who said Sac was to long? RU you kidding I can listen to them as many songs as they want though Rain or Hail.
