Phantom 2008 in the theater - copyright secured?

Recommended Posts

I'm still furious because mine was ordered way in advance of the cut dvds. Never shipped, contacted DCI 4 times on the issue, finally shipped 3 days after the cut.

but at least they waived my shipping fee (you know, the one they waived for everyone on presidents day weekend)

gee thanks DCI

DCI stated the synch license was the license in question. As far as I know, that only affects DVD/videocassette recordings. I highly suspect, but I am not positive, that The Countdown is considered a broadcast event which would be covered by the broadcast license.

Oh, I can take of that for you! Just send it to me. I'll be happy to do the dirty deed. :worthy:

Look for it the mail. It should be there any day

They didn't get rights for part of the Tjeknavorian piece. The first minute or so isn't on the DVD; the songs starts, but it skips ahead.

Hmm..

Thanks...never noticed.

I don't want to be a downer, but I won't go to the countdown unless the full phantom show is playing, so if anyone gets any hard evidence on what the situation is post a link please!!

I think you should go just to see the preview of PR 2009. I really want to hear how they sound on the new horns!

I didn't know anything about that... I wasn't going to go, but if there is really going to be a preview, then I'm going!

The Countdown site-thing says:

"In addition to the six featured corps performances, "The Countdown" presentation will include exclusive preview features recorded at the 2009 rehearsal camps of the Phantom Regiment, the defending DCI World Champions; the Madison Scouts, who battled their way back into the top 12 last season after a one-year hiatus; and the Jersey Surf, the newest member of DCI's World Class."

Sweetness.
