It would be great if someone could create a photobucket group for this year's photos like they did last year, so we can see everone's photos in one place.

I just created a new group album for this year at http://photobucket.com/madisonscouts09

Awwwww....Andy you beat me to it! ha I had every intention of creating the Official 2009 Madison Scouts Thread just like last year (which became a DCP sensation), but it's my fault for procrastinating. I've been absent from DCP for most of the off-season due to a catastrophic hard drive failure, but I'm on a new computer and ready for another exciting season of that Madison Scouts brand of drum corps...!!

Aaaaah...I can almost smell the diesel fumes from here...

POW!!

Some posters are forgetting the appropriate formatting for posting in the Madison Scouts Official Thread.

Based on last year's results...back in the Top 12, I believe it important that you follow your post with the following:

GO SCOUTS!!!

The capital letters are an important component as they also symbolize the frequent misspelling of the word CAPITOL of which Madison is one of 50 in the US...an important distinction.

Also, please use at minimum 3 exclamation points symbolizing the 3 world DCI championships for the Scouts...well, there will be one day at least three championships. Perhaps that day will be in August of this year. You can use more exclamation points if you'd like. Please do so.

Finally, I think there needs to be a way to appropriately pay respect to this year's show. I am open to thoughts and ideas on the subject, however for now, I'm kind of settling on:

!P!O!W!

The exclamation points are for the excitement right from the start of the show and going throughout until the show ends. Again, just my thoughts. I am open to other suggestions.

And also I had to admit the first time I saw it I thought the Scouts were doing a tribute to Veterans who were POWs. I can't be the only one, can I?

I just got back from tonights practice. It is very obvious that the Corps is WAY WAY ahead of last year. I got there just in time to help a bit with dinner. As I sat and watched as the guys came in, the first thing I noticed is the massive guard. 36, the largest ever in Scouts history. I had read on another post about the guard size but was skeptical, but to my surprise, those numbers are accurate. I went down to the practice field after dinner and watched tonights complete practice. The Corps first worked on there ballad and wow, it is just beautiful. Best sounding ballad I have heard from the Scouts in years. They moved on to "Mambo" and man, talk about notes. That song is littered with notes and will take a TON of work to get clean. Wow, what a cool piece. Towards the end, they worked on opener and this was the cleanest piece by far. Musically the songs I heard were loaded with latin sounds and the hint of Malaga is very cool. Obviously the Corps has lots of work to do, but from what I heard tonight, im not worried about the Scouts this year. I should also mention that the drill is very challenging, they were marching very fast in some spots and I dont remember any segments from last years show that matches the speeds I saw tonight. A very interesting comment I got from Dann Petersen was he is very pleased with the status thus far. He said the Corps is (right now) where he thought they would be in 2010. Basically thinking it would take them another year to be where they are now. Time shall tell.

I am very excited about the 09 Scouts, and when you see them, you will be too.

Go Scouts!!!
