MikeinCMH
I was in Marion this past weekend and decided to see if Harding Stadium still exists .... it does. This picture shows where the souvie booths used to be located and the back of stands where the free "call home" kiosks used to be! It was always a great experience for those of us who lived in the area. Edited March 1, 2022 by MikeinCMH
Keith Hall
Remember the extra stands in the end zone? How about concert side was the other side of the field. I remember 1973 (I think) A class prelims were at another high school out in the sticks.
Keith Hall
The YMCA pool that was as hot as the sun!
MikeinCMH
Correct, Open class prelims played to the side of the field shown above while finals (Open, A and All Girl) played to the side shown below. And yes, A class prelims were held in a very rural setting. There is new YMCA with a decent pool I am told.
Keith Hall
The stands in 1972 were much higher if I remember correctly
Rudy Wiedoeft
One of the best parts… cherry picker for the judges since there really wasn't a pressbox.
