Hmmm...toughie. I identify it with 27th...gotta go with Star, tho

Niner Two 1993 Blue Devils or 1997 Crossmen

82 27th....BD barely touched it, you can hardly compare their few bars against anyone else.

Blue Rondo Ala Turk 1982 27th Lancers or 1982 Spirit of Atlanta

27th

Eleanor Rigby 1982 Geneseo Knights or 1984 Avant Garde

Can say....haven't heard either

Strawberry Soup 1982-83 Madison Scouts 1993 Blue Devils or 2002 Crossmen

83 Scouts....duh!

West Side Story 1984 The Cadets of Bergen County 1998 Blue Devils or 2009 The Cadets

Gahfield...hands down on that one. Barb Maroney alone gives them the win!

Russlan & Ludmilla 1983 Geneso Knights or 1984 Crossmen

Crossmen...I liked your entire show, in fact...so much so that I blatantly stole the closer for my tech school corps, although I gradded out before they really learned to play it.

Festive Overture 1983 Vanguard or 2009 Mandarins

I think you mean 85 SCV....which wins over 09 Mandarins. (SCV's 83 opener was 3rd Symphony, 4th movement by Giannini...played it in college...a bear of a piece). However, had you put in 01 Regiment in place of 09 Mandarins, it would present the toughest choice of the lot, as Regiment did a great job (living in SCV's shadow on that chart was no easy feat), and the closing statement, although from a different work, blended perfectly...one of teh best show endings ever.

I like the '81 version a tad better. I think the solos were stronger.

I like the '81 version a tad better. I thnk the solos were stronger.

Plus the horn book is mostly ensemble rather than solos. The entire 81 version is an epic and a milestone in drum corps history. Never had a number flowed like that for so long without stopping, not to mention it's almost entirely in 9/8and 9/4, and it has about 950 different musical moments in it, including some of the most brilliant, over-the-top percussion writing EVER in the shout chorus. Mercy.

My vote would be with Blessed Sacrament 1969-1970

Here's one to chew on:

Ritual Fire Dance - Bridgemen or Anaheim Kingsmen (or if you are a trivia buff, the 1966 Madison Scouts)

Or Star 1987.
