3rd_Star_Brigade
Except West Chester University is a band, and The Troopers are a drum corps, so it'll be a lot better..... WCU is the band that thinks its a corps... mistakenly. PS I go there. I wouldn't trade my open class experience for my year of band.
John Murray
WCU is the band that thinks its a corps... mistakenly.PS I go there. I wouldn't trade my open class experience for my year of band. Sounds about like how it is at Murray State. Brass does have it's moments though. Leading to the nickname of "Racer Corps"
CrunchyTenor
I would tell you, but there are a few folks on here who couldn't handle it and would have to spend the rest of their weekend lecturing on why the #1 band from Rockford is NOT A BAND. I think the guys in Cheap Trick might want to debate that one! Garry in Vegas
tommyfromhowardst
I see Rick Nielsen bombing around Chicago now and then, House of Blues, etc.
Dave Scott
Sounds about like how it is at Murray State.Brass does have it's moments though. Leading to the nickname of "Racer Corps" Well the MSU band director is an old corps guy that marched Watkins Glen Squires, Guardsmen and staffer for Pioneer. John Murray
Well the MSU band director is an old corps guy that marched Watkins Glen Squires, Guardsmen and staffer for Pioneer. Mr Fannin is one hell of a guy. Marched under him for a year at Murray. He said he'd do fifty push-ups if we could play a lick right, because we had been sucking it up the whole rehearsal.. Another one of my favorite moments. Phi Mu Alpha singing for Mr Fannin [it was his birthday]
ChwyNiblet
WCU is the band that thinks its a corps... mistakenly.PS I go there. I wouldn't trade my open class experience for my year of band. WCU does not think it is a corps, in any way...I was simply kidding in my first post. PS I went there. I had a better time at my open class experience as well...but WCU's band was a lot more enjoyable..
3rd_Star_Brigade
but WCU's band was a lot more enjoyable.. Ahh, I'm more of a summer guy. I don't like cold, wet, rainy rehearsals and div ii football games. plus, i hate practicing in jeans, and without proper breathe-da playing instruction. yeah, donnie van doren ruined my life. ive never even met the guy, but he taught basically ever brass instructor how to do it, and i just dont feel the same playing without it, ya know. LegendOfJ
Just to let you guys know, West Chester University did in fact march exhibition at BOA National Finals in Indianapolis, in Lucas Oil Stadium this year. The show title was "Wanted", we closed and ended with this theme by Bon Jovi. 2 other songs were original arrangements, and we also did "Desperado" by the Eagles. Best of luck to the Troopers in the upcoming season.
kickhaltsforlife
Except West Chester University is a band, and The Troopers are a drum corps, so it'll be a lot better..... Did I say West Chester was going to be better than the troopers? No. More enjoyable... more than likely... and that is a knock on drum corps, not just the Troopers. No doubt it will be a hell of a lot better executed... there is no argument there. And there is definitely a very strong drum corps mentality at west chester now.
