adsigns
A reminder to the Drum Corps Community, Please continue to VOTE, encourage others to VOTE. Do not stop, Do not give up. Keep Pushing . . . VOTE 4 THE DRUM CORPS! Why? Read the Third Bullet Point. ----------------------------------------------------------- Chase will make a total of $5,000,000 in donations: * Round 1: Chase will donate $25,000 to each of the 100 Charities receiving the most votes in Round 1, provided all eligibility requirements and standards have been met. Those Charities will be announced on the Chase Community Giving Page, as well as through the Chase Community Giving application on or about 12/16/09. * Round 2: Chase will donate $1,000,000 to the Round 2 Charity receiving the most votes and will donate $100,000 to the five runners up, provided all eligibility requirements and standards have been met. Those Charities will be announced on the Chase Community Giving Page, as well as through the Chase Community Giving application on or about 02/01/10. * The Chase Community Giving Advisory Board will select one or more nominated Charities to receive donations with a combined total of $1,000,000. The chosen Charities will be announced on February 8, 2010. ------------------------------------------------------------ There is a strong possibility that other groups NOT in the Top 6 will still receive additional funds. Not sure what the formula or the criteria may be, I'm hoping it is on a sliding scale, similar to how a golf tournament awards it's prize money. It is in the committee's hands. THAT is WHY it is important to keep Pushing and that ALL 4 CORPS make a strong showing in this final round. Imagine . . . If all 40,000 fans of DCI on their Facebook page would VOTE 4 THE DRUM CORPS . . .

SynthLine09
"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."-- Harold Whitman hard to come alive when you dont even have a chance to live isnt it? I'm sorry but when you vote for drum corps over lets say the american cancer society, what you are saying to people is that you feel it is more important, whichever way you wanna slice it. If you are really so passionate about drum corps and would rather them win money than an organization that saves millions of lives every year, donate the money yourself
CoastGuard
Best of luck to all four corps and of course, all the charities!!! I do find it interesting that not all of people that voted for Phantom or Crown, voted for the rest of the Corps. Just an observation. mobrien
I'm sorry but when you vote for drum corps over lets say the american cancer society, what you are saying to people is that you feel it is more important, whichever way you wanna slice it. By that way of thinking, all charitable giving should be done with a punchlist of severity. So which is really important - cancer research or heart research? AIDS research or stopping the killing in Africa? Service orgs for the disabled or school lunches for kids from poor homes? Most normal adults come to realize that "balance" is the key to sensible living. Therefore they don't put false constraints on themselves that say "oh, this is important therefore NOTHING ELSE can be important too." They recognize that there are LOTS of issues in the world that need to be addressed, and try to spread their generosity over a wide range, with an eye toward using severity as a guideline, but not a cleaver. So they do what Chase and most other major corporate donors do; they make sure they support a broad range of initiatives, providing the most funding to the most pressing issues. This can be seen in the numbers: all the charitable donations to drum corps in a year don't equal what the American Cancer Society gets in a few days, so people DO give in proportion to the relative seriousness of the issue. Chase gives away $100 million per year on a pretty regular basis, and like most sensible people, they try to make sure that they cover a lot of bases. Were a drum corps to get one of the major grants, it would be no different from the hundreds of thousands Chase already provides to performing arts organizations in their primary markets across the country.
