From Renegades Asst. Director, Lolita:

Below is a summary of all the necessary details needed to have a great day. There is a tiny chance of rain, so come prepared, especially for practice on windy Treasure Island. It's also a good idea to consider wearing layers under your red shirt. Remember.... Renegades pride ourselves on being an all-weather drum corps!

Finally, I encourage everyone to join us at Chevy's before and after the parade for a good old-fashioned party. This is one of those rare times when we don't have practice the next day, so it gets rowdy. <tee hee> A good chance to eat some yummy food, drink frosty beverages and bond with your drum corps friends. Good times.

Treasure Island (noon)

Saturday, Feb 27, 2010

12:00 - 3:00pm

We will be having a short rehearsal on Treasure Island beginning at noon. Everyone marching in the parade must be there to set the parade block. Expect a short warmup, followed by a relaxed music/marching rehearsal. We will be rehearsing on the cement field near the boat dock (turn right on California St and go to the end). For those who have never been to Treasure Island, you can get directions here:

Note: Be careful of that first off-ramp from the Bay Bridge -- it' sneaks up on you!

Handy CNY Map

We've created a Google Map showing all the day's locations including Treasure Island, hotel, Chevys and the parade route. Take a look:

Memorize "Eye of the Tiger"

It's important everyone have their gig memorized by the time they get

to Treasure Island at noon. Do yourself a favor, and brush up on

Parking and Equipment Logistics

There are numerous parking garages around Moscone Center (near Chevys). Be sure to note what time the garage closes at night (typically midnight). If you choose to drive or you can take BART, disembarking at the Montgomery or Powell St. stations. You can see the parade route and other parking possibilities here: CNY parade route and parking

Parade Warm Up (5:00pm)

We will be meeting on the SOUTH side of Market at FREMONT STREET at 5:00pm. It is important everyone is on-time, as we're leaving as little "standing around time" as possible before the parade begins.

For those new to this gig, the Renegades do a great job with logistics.

I would add one thing...

This parade is very popular (i.e. HUGE CROWD) so if you're planning on BART for transportation leave from wherever in plenty of time - the trains will be crowded.

Wish I was there - maybe next year.

East Coast Safety Tip: If you were marching with Renegades in the CNY parade this weekend, you would not be shoveling 18" of snow today.

Blew 24" of snow from my driveyway this morning. We here in Erie don't even own shovels cause 18" is just a dusting. 2 foot is SNOW. We STOMP 18" or less. Just sayin............

Yes, and I would also advise anyone to bring an umbrella and clear rainyday poncho.....
