Jerseyboy
According to Michael Boo's dreary blog (who cares about Laura Ingalls Wilder?):Michael Boo: Repeat: Brandt Crocker has just announced the show has been cancelled. Why was the other thread locked? still 9corps competed, no scores ., no reviews. i have one for the WC corps I saw on the fan network before and during the rain. it must have been hard for some waiting 45 minutes to perform . warm ups are timed and geared toward the performance time and messing with this causes the unknown. anyway. TEAL SOUND big corps, nice opening intro to program . cleaner than Kalamazoo, drill is ik ,music is ok, did not mind the guitar as much as I thought I would. a good moving up year . looks like 18th is in there grasps PIONEER better program , just visual mud. not even dirt. Brass arrangements are good , program is good. classier show than Teal but much dirtier. SPIRIT much improved since Kalamazoo. Drill is still dirty and there are many holes still guard was better , performance was way better. still looking at 15/16 IMHO CROSSMEN some nice changes to the program. very exciting still dirty visual, brass much better .performance much better. this is my favorite show out of the 11-17 group hope they can add and clean to get back where they belong. They have the program to do it. MADISON very good opening statement But then gets very safe in parts. no whipping drill , no screaming trumpets . fairly clean , but safe . looking at11th place COLTS I do not get this one. brass was very edgy sounding show did nothing for me. 1st viewing though. scoring in the 75.76 range ??? not sure how, semifinalist. TROOPERS 2ND VIEWING, AND MUCH BETTER. Ensemble visual getting cleaner. not much of a drill or program but cleaner than there peers. 12-15th place could see them sneaking in . GLASSMEN dirty dirty dirty. how are Gmen and Colts scoring so high ? I liked the Spirit Crossmen grouping much better although they have been scoring lower. again very Harsh sounfd from the brass and ensemble visual is a mess. drill has problems and bad sets. could be passed and looking out of finals come August 12-15 place Blue Knights. very strong for this time in the season. powerful ,full brass line. Drill is tight with tight power sets. guard is very good. hope they can have room to grow as they are fairly clean already. might get passed in August . 10-12 place. then the rain really came down. good call stopping the show. BUT DCI should release these scores as people paid $$ for tickets and fan network. My scores. ( although I am usually wrong As I saw it.) BLUE KNIGHTS 82.50 MADISON -79.00 GLASSMEN -77.80 SPIRIT-76.80 TROOPERS-76.45 CROSSMEN -76.35 COLTS -75.80 TEAL -73.00 pioneer
DCfan76
FanofNight... Just to follow up on your review - I was at the show... I am a big Colts fan - their performance was not up to par. The tempos were off and the kids were rattled from the weather issues. Probably the most flat performance I've seen from them all year. It was my first viewing of Spirit and Crossmen, and I have to admit that I like their shows. Like you said, lots of dirt - but also some very nice moments in each. Glassmen horn line DID sound thin (and out of tune in spots), I don't get their high horn scores either. Madison has a big sound, but the rest of the show just sits there. I don't think either of those two have a lock on the 11 and 12 spot and I expect a dogfight with Academy, Troopers, Colts Spirit and Crossmen over the next 4 weeks. SOME STADIUM ISSUES... The UM stadium is a beauty, but there was NO parking direction at all - and a traffic jam coming and going. So next year be prepared to arrive EARLY. I noticed a kind of re-verb during every percussion feature. Anyone else hear this too? Also, there was a loud, giant fan on the scoreboard that was extremely annoying during the softer parts of the music. I'm sure it's fine during football games, but music? Not so much. The rain was a huge disappointment, but I got to meet and chat with lots of great drum corps fans!!

BigBadMadMan
On the cusp right now i would say. probably. but.......almost. On the cusp??? Haha on the cusp of 9th maybe! Talk about denial!! lol and DCFan76...not a lock for finals? Fighting with Troopers, Colts, Academy, etc? lol yeah, I think a solid 5-7 points ahead of that crew kinda ruins that theory. Madison should just put it in neutral and coast from here on out.
ma24le
I hope DCI doesnt book a show here next year. If they do they need to turn off that large scoreboard in the end zone. Did anyone else find the noise from the large fans in the scoreboard distracting?
