DCImonkey
It goes into New World Symphony but I believe the very beginning is intended to be Jaws, or a passing reference to Jaws. At the very least, that's how everyone in the audience is interpreting it. And it certainly fits the theme and guard work. It's a double entendre. You're both right. It is the beginning of the 4th mvt. as well as the Jaws motive. It goes with the New World and Ocean themes
corps8294
From what I've read, John Williams utilized that part of New World Symphony when he was composing the music for Jaws.
CrownBariDad
Back from intermission, Spirit is taking the field, and the fireworks are picking up. Can't they hear the corps? But that has always been a problem at this event. Hopefully it doesn't bother the remaining corps too much. Hopefully, there'll be more fireworks on the field than off! Kevin.
From what I've read, John Williams utilized that part of New World Symphony when he was composing the music for Jaws. John Williams would NEVER borrow music from another composer!

Dundermiffly
I dig the steampunk idea as well. I am stoked to see it live. Workin' me out, Troop Guard!
piperguy
From what I've read, John Williams utilized that part of New World Symphony when he was composing the music for Jaws. And Williams is the guy who won't let anyone use his music??? Seems kinda unfair to me Edited July 1, 2012 by piperguy
