craiga
Does anyone have a guess as to what the toss actually was? A "15?" A "17?" I don't believe I've seen another toss like it since the '99 show. Regarding the lad who made that sabre toss, is he still involved in the activity? I don't know if that particular toss can be taught. A remarkable moment in DCI nonetheless. . The kid's name was John, and he once told me it was USUALLY a 12....which leads me to believe that it might have varied from time to time...regardless, it was exciting and a blast to watch, especially when he caught it (which he usually did). N.E. Brigand
After watching the DVD in slow motion, I make it 12 1/2. He releases the handle with his left hand, but when he catches it the handle is to his right. (I have no guard knowledge, so if I'm describing this incorrectly, please correct.) As Liahona notes, the camera doesn't move quickly enough, but you can count a rhythm that places it at 6 when the camera catches up, and 7 at its highest point. Earlier in the show, there's a big drop -- by the same performer? Edited July 14, 2012 by N.E. Brigand
